as a Slovakian millennial, gotta say we’re pretty divided rn.

PS – center-left party focused on environmentalism and minority rights

      Republika – Slovak AfD

      SaS – classic liberalism

Smer – current ruling party of Robert Fico, pro-russian oligarchs

Hlas – party that initially split from Smer but now is basically Smer 2 with a slightly less hateful rhetoric towards minorities

Movement Slovakia – chaotic anti-Fico party, conservative populists

Democrats – centrists that split from MS

KDH – christian democracts, very conservative (against abortion and lgbt rights)

For political context: If PS won the next election their main partners are SaS, Democrats and KDH (they don’t view MS as a stable partner, but they would most likely enter into coalition with them, if they had to)

The coalition is Smer, Hlas and SNS. If Smer had to, they would gladly enter into coalition with fascists from Republika to stay in power.

So it basically means that – provided that the poll is accurate and representative – even in the youngest cohort in Slovakia, democratic parties only reach 60% of the electorate, the other 40% being split among different blends of far right stables.

I have no beef with Slovaquia and I admire the way that their opposition is hammering on a constant basis against Fico. I actually believe that results would be quite similar all across europe today, east and west, north and south, with between 25% and 50% going for nationalist parties among youngsters.

Let’s face it: we are fucked. A democratic system where the alternance is between democracy and autocracy is a democratic system in waiting of dismantling.

    4. Not too different from Poland, where the two main choices of young people are Razem and Konfederacja. Although it seems like Razem is more left-wing than PS (our attempt to create something aligned with Renew Europe was called PL2050 and failed miserably).

Not too different from Hungary. Most young people absolutely despise Orbán.

    6. Wow Republika, didn’t expect that. Would have assumed SaS would be higher, otherwise mostly as expected

Sadly in almost all Europe the young vote is irrelevant given the overwhelming majority of adults and elders.

What percentage of the young people partake in last election?

    9. I have no doubts in youth. Shame most other ages completely lost their minds and want USSR back judging from morons like Fico and Orban being popular.
