I feel like this sort of news is a weekly occurrence

What a shock. Protect your own and all that. Then they’re going “ooh, why does the general public not trust the police?” When they’re pulling shit like this.

Plod back each other up to a degree that is both frightening and embarrassing. You wouldn’t last five minutes in the police if you didn’t.
It extends from this sort of thing all the way down to random street encounters when they’re bored. One starts grabbing for someone’s arm, and they all pile in, despite having clearly had no interest in doing so until one does. It’s impossible not to compare it to a pack of dogs – one leaps and they all follow. It’s animalistic.
There are reasons to believe that this sort of behaviour at least contributed to what Couzens was able to do. This has cost lives.
There are all kinds of reasons for it but right now I think the police are a greater risk to me, at least in the work I do and the places I go, than conventional criminality.
