Our energy pricing system is stupid and hurts the economy. If Labour want to win back anybody they should change it to something more sensible

At what point can we really say being ripped off is unexpected

We are about to learn the subtle nuance between cost (what a producer spend to put 1kWh on the grid), which have been falling under our collective cheers and gleeful headlines, and price (what a customer spend to get 1kWh when needed)

These energy companies are taking the absolute piss

Things like this are why Labour are seen as failing (regardless of how true it is or isn’t). As the government in power, they must have the ability to drive the energy companies to change their models and, basically, stop ripping everyone off, or to change how the energy regulator operates, or to change the rules that govern energy prices. This is the kind of tangible “change” that many people voted for, but when it never comes, people obviously question if and how they’re better than other options.

Damn those immigrants, using all the energy and leaving no option for energy companies except raising prices

How can it be unexpected if we know it’s going to happen in January

I wonder what rate the new data centers are going to be paying. Energy companies are suffocating us

Only unexpected by people who have not been paying attention.

Energy companies are making insane record numbers but they charge us more and more and more

Wasn’t one if Rishi’s last acts to sell the right to extract and sell on more of the national energy? Selling assets that would be sold back to us must already have been working so well with Thames Water. It saves the bother of manufacturing anything.

Not unexpected at all, we’re used to being shafted.

Looking forward to some crackpot Reform UK council member demanding prisoners generate electricity via stationary bikes hooked up to generators.

Electricity, gas, water, petrol, council tax… We are being well and truly shafted.
