It couldn’t be any other way.
Otherwise, the United States would have stop its intelligence information and stopped selling weapons to Europe for transfer to Ukraine.
In addition, the publication of documents on corruption in Zelensky’s entourage would continue.
Therefore, Zelensky cannot simply say no to Trump’s plan.
Unpopular opinion it’s not the worst deal out there so there is some items we can work with
1) the reduction in army size still allows for 600,000 men larger then most armies in the EU and Asia
2) frozen Russian assets get invested into Ukraine and are not given back to Russia
3) the territory in the Donbas would be the major sticking point as Russia doesn’t control it but frozen frontlines in other regions is not the worst option. (Maybe frozen lines here as well?)
4) Ukraine can still join the EU but not NATO but that was already a given. But they can still get EU security deals and I don’t recall seeing any weapon restrictions (could be wrong on this)
Is it fair to let Russia keep territory? Of course not but it is realistic. As it stands on the battlefield today Ukraine lacks the ability to take the land back and the EU and US lack the willpower to enable Ukraine to do so. So until the tide shifts in Ukraines favor on the battlefield this is what we got.

If land is ceded then its an invitation to try again. Russia is the aggressor here and thus should not be rewarded for an invasion.
I wonder how different these terms will be from the negotiations that western powers put the kybosh on in april 2022.

imo the biggest problem in the deal is how will they ensure Russia won’t invade again? American bases in Ukraine? UN Demarcation line? Third country border guards?

I will leave it to the Ukranians to decide what peace plan works for them, but for the EU, there should be no attempt at normalizing relations with Russia, at least not while the people responsible for this war are still in power. Any and all dependencies on Russian energy should be phased out and no consumer goods should be imported, nor should exports be tolerated. It sickens me to think that we might soon be trading with a country that has – besides the active war of conquest they are currently engaged in against one of our allies – routinely committed acts of sabotage on European soil, interfered with democratic elections in every country and time and again threatened to destroy us in nuclear hellfire. Diplomatic relations should be to the extent that we acknowledge the country exists, as all that their diplomats do is lie through their teeth. The Chinese and Americans can have them, I want no part.

Zelensky never ever said that Ukraine would cede land though, not now, not in the last 4 years.
