      Sorry but I’m actually delighted to hear this. There’s been far too much ‘carrot’ with car owners and now is time to actually penalize them for driving their cars. As a nation we have to face up to the uncomfortable truth that the era of the motor car has finished and we must give it up.

      You will expect to have free parking if you can produce receipts etc from using the centre

      This is trying to block people filling up the car park when they get a bus etc off into city centre for work

      Or if they want to continue to use they will pay for it

      All the other car parks around Blanchardstonw had to do the same to stop the carpark been blocked all day with commuters, Bradys pub ect

      A good idea! There are definitely places where public transport is lacking, but so many people are used to driving everywhere without questioning it. Yes it takes a bit of extra planning ahead to run errands without a car but like everything it gets much easier with practise. Plus the more people used public transport the more services can be added making it more useful for everyone.

      I would add that areas around Blanch need to densify too to make public transport more efficient, places like Ongar are incredible spread out, making it difficult to plan bus routes that don’t stop every 5 mins.

      Surely if you are *local* to the centre you wouldn’t be driving there to begin with…

      Liffey valley is a busy as ever, people will complain but then get over it

      It was the same money grab for Liffey Valley, even the shop workers have to pay for car park. It’s the new normal now. Big Corpos squeezing every penny they can from customers.

      The initially wanted to build apartments on one of the carparks but got shelved in favour of this. More money

      Invest in more park and rides. A portion of the issue is people taking the bus into town. Which is great.

      I would appreciate it more if they said its for profit rather than for “improving traffic flow”!

      Because it is for profit and nothing else.
