Le affermazioni del portavoce del Cremlino sulla neutralità dell’Irlanda sono “sciocchezze”, dice Taoiseach

i mean martin is partly wrong here , the EU is trying for Ireland to remove its neutrality and to wants it to join NATO , i mean the the EU is trying to fund European remobiliziartion , with a military schenge https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/de/ip_25_2724 among other things
and the government is aiding the EU here trying to remove the triple lock
russia isnt wrong persay , just because you dont like someone means their wrong
Russia can fuck off.
We’re not militarists and we’re not joining NATO or any other military alliance.
Our neutrality is our business and we conduct out own diplomatic affairs as we see fit whether Russia approves of it or not.
Bear in mind this is the main spokesperson for an extremely authoritarian regime that’s currently bombing the absolute crap out of its next door neighbour, and regularly makes bellicose threats to anyone who dares criticise it, including loudly talking about nuclear weapons, yet somehow also expects everyone to not react to any of this. Her government has cost Ireland billions housing displaced people whose lives it’s turned upside down and inside out.
If anyone is placing pressure on Ireland’s ability to maintain a position of military neutrality it’s the behaviour of her twisted government!
Other parts of Europe are heavily ramping up defence in reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the constant threats and rhetoric. A lot of people are genuinely very worried – try asking someone from the Suwalki Gap in Poland, or from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania or Finland etc…
If she were dialling down the threats and tensions this wouldn’t be happening, but she’s not. She just likes lecturing from a position of total hypocrisy.
They basically make statements along the lines of “how dare you hurt my fist with your soft face.”
“It claimed, without naming the politicians, that the Irish opposition had criticised the government for its decision to support a training mission for Ukrainian troops.”
So we now have the Russian government and the opposition singing from the same hymn sheet
To try and pretend there isn’t a campaign in the irish media and certain political class to end Irish neutrality is frankly a joke.
There is fuck all value in anything the Kremlin has to say
They can say what they like.
Ireland’s self-proclaimed neutrality isn’t going anywhere, nor are we joining NATO.
Nor do those two facts preclude us from removing the triple lock, increasing our defence capabilities or increasing co-operation with other military bodies in Europe.
In general this topic provokes a whole lot of noise over a relatively narrow selection of potential outcomes, most of which are entirely lacking in drama.
Ireland needs to increase defence spending and abandon neutrality.
Russia has shown the world repeatedly that they don’t respect the rights and sovereignty of neutral nations.
We need an overhaul of the defense forces. Buying equipment and recruiting (then paying them properly which we dont) doesn’t make us less neutral. Developing an expeditionary capacity does. We do need aircraft and systems capable of removing threats from our skies/waters. Think Switzerland kind of neutrality.
We need nukes
You can’t be neutral if you rely on other countries to enforce your neutrality.
Why can’t both things be true?
The Russian government are scumbags AND we are being targeted by Nato to end our neutrality?
Two threads on the topic in a day! It’s never ending
