We did not vote for that Trump guy.
      He is not European.

How the heck is he deciding peace in Europe or not?

This is the Munich Agreement all over again.

TBH – if Europe simply ignored Trump and went ahead to really support Ukraine in such a way as to, most likely, bring about a positive conclusion to the conflict, I suspect Trump would not be able to resist sending in US support to try and steal the glory.

But even if not, I think Europe needs to show the world that it is truly committed to its ideals and will do what it takes to look after its allies.

    3. _Avocado_public_hair on

This is all very true. But does anyone believe that European leaders will do what’s necessary? There will be a lot of statements, emotional speeches, but that’s it. Well, maybe they’ll provide a few missiles, which won’t change anything on a global scale.

    4. Murican here; just know the marches, support for Populist progressive candidates, and pushback in the street is hitting modern record highs.

We’re fed up & even the suburban wine moms are radicalized beyond comprehension against Trump

Sit tight as the youth push the elderly of power.

European leaders will be sitting tight on their arses even when putin will be eating croissants in Paris.

Have we considered a pan-european mandatory conscription of a percentage of all men aged 18-22 into a large European army. Women can join if they want as well.

    7. fuckfuturism on

That’s all fine, but there is nothing to suggest that EU can reach agreement on what would be necessary to bring about a positive outcome. And a precursor for such an outcome is boots on the ground in Ukraine. Not happening.

Will Zelenskyy be forced to accept this if European leaders dont step up?

    10. This demented shit is giving me an anxiety and rage attacks. Since January, this idiotic cycle of betrayal, fear, anger and dim hope has happened several times over and I swear it shortened my lifespan by years. I experience this shit viscerally and can’t just zone out and not keep attention, my country borders Ukraine and is on the line.

    11. ChimeMeUp on

I agree with these statements 100%.

But the issue comes after – let’s say EU gets their collective shit together and can help Ukraine so that they defend Europe for us. Is that the point where US starts helping Russia and drip feed intel/tech just to weaken us even more? Because I absolutely think they would do that, it would cost them close to nothing given their developed intelligence and military industries. And Trump definitely hates the EU more than Russia.

    12. PineBNorth85 on

For real. The western world needs to just accept the US isn’t reliable or trustworthy and move on. The old order isn’t coming back.

    13. kittenTakeover on

I hope the US rallies at some point to the sane position of supporting Ukraine. It’s frustrating seeing Donald trying to connive a way towards supporting Putin. Either way, Europe has to step up.

    14. Opening-Border-6313 on

And Europe, think about another thing. Trump wants to sign this deal in Budapest in our electoral campaign. If Orbán has two weeks where he is “the peacemaker” we are fucked truly. Like really. European leaders should do a lot of things, but DONT LET THEM hely the conference here

    15. Quasarrion on

An other reason to boycott fcking USA while this disgusting man is in power. Iam stil willing to pay a bit more in my country to have Europe united and get rid of USA.

    16. jakobkiefer on

whilst I understand his point and generally agree, it’s crucial to maintain open discussions with our allies regardless of their current leaders

    18. 1Jeffrey1 on

A lot of us didn’t either. We felt that he stole the election and everyone now in his administration corrupt. Most Americans want the diaper wearing want to be dictator to be removed. If, and that’s a big if, we get to the next election he and his cronies will be voted out. After that we need to repair the damage done to our country and start rebuilding relations.

    19. SheikYerbouti007 on

The USA is nothing more than Putins vassal state with a Russian asset as President.
      Shame on America!

    20. cosmic_cod on

The new plan is not any different from a dozen of previous plans through the years. Russia declined every time.

    21. DryCloud9903 on

Release the goddamned russian assets and LET’S GOOO!

Or maybe that’s why this ultimatum being pushed so hard (1 week deadline for Ukraine to accept) now? Because Europe does seem closer than ever to doing it and they needed something to derail it?

(It certainly could make it politically tricky to hand them over now without, in idiot trump’s eyes, seeming like you’re “wanting war” or some other bullshit)

    22. MrBoomer1951 on

450 million Europeans don’t need 330 million Americans to protect them against 150 million Russians.

Europe is screwed if Russia and China keep electing Republicans for US President.

    25. Draggnor on

if europe does not wake up now, I guess there is really no hope for us and all those noble ideals of our politicians at home and in Brusel are completely vacant

    26. Fluffy-Name2130 on

Strong words 0 actions ,north Korea send actuall troops to fight us ,millions of artillery shells , vehicles and so on . And what did Europeans do about it? They did not even gave us permission to use rockets like “STORM SHADOW” deep into russian territory back then, European leaders are apathetic cowards , everything will be like that, to the point when russia will attack baltics and I am pretty sure many of EU nations will not defend them.
