The amount of people who are in flat denial about the importance of Ireland supporting Ukraine in their war efforts, who’ll read a headline like this and still can’t connect the dots, is astounding

Neutrality is a nice principle, but it only holds credibility if everyone else gives a jot about it. Russia has decided to simply stop pretending to be a sibling nation and fully embraced its antagonist stance.

What are the main benefits of our neutrality? The way the world is shaping up, particularly what is happening in Ukraine, I struggle to see a negative in joining NATO and standing alongside our neighbours.

I wonder what our new president would say? Its NATO’s fault probably

Waiting for the ‘shur who’d attack us’ brigade to fall out of bed…

  7. >”There have been numerous successful attempts to jam civilian aircraft communications in Irish-controlled airspace in recent years, including at least one incident originating with Russia, Government records show.”

Who else was doing the jamming? It says one originating with Russia but there was others that came from elsewhere?

    >”The document says there have been other instances of jamming of the frequency, although it does not say where this jamming originated”

Just in case anyone didn’t read the article.

So many warmongers here with an incredible sense of self importance here. Ireland is by and large irrelevant. We shouldn’t be pushed into an arms race.

They all shout and we should do or that but wouldn’t join the defence forces full time or the reserves not give it a second thought.

We have the EU presidency next year. Which means lots of VIPs, diplomats etc travelling here for meetings. Id say the Russians look at us when it comes to cyber security, drone defence and technoligical warfare, as a weak link. They’re probably probing our defences so they can cause all kinds of disruption next year.

Not a word from the far left who seem to think neutrality will somehow keep us safe from stuff like this.

We are military neutral but not politically neutral. We have socially and politically sided with Ukraine and Palestine.

All those saying we should be able to defend ourselves need a reality check. Have a look at a map, and see the size comparison between Ireland and practically every other country in the EU, look at the size comparison between Ireland and Russia. Even population wise we are one of the smallest in the EU. And people are calling for us to be able to defend ourselves against Russia………. We’d need every ounce of land in Ireland to store weapons to defend ourselves independently if Russia decided to attack us, they have nuclear bombs FFS.

Yes our navy and aviation should be funded to patrol our water and air spaces, should we have weapons to go to war with Russia, absolutely not, we’d be blown off the planet if we picked a fight. The only people that benefit from war are weapons companies. Dialect and sanctions are the grown up way to forward.

Has anyone considered telling them we’re neutral??

Honestly if you’re one of these “whaaaa what about our neutrality!!!” people at this stage you are a genuine fucking idiot.

The far left in Ireland are just insane in their support of anti democratic dictatorships

Especially in a week where we are watching a neutral country being divided up between Trump and Putin whom for some bizzare reason they adore

I would hope this incident is a wake up call. But I fully expect us to collectively put our fingers in our ears and keep wailing about neutrality.

Everyone here promoting the propaganda that Irish people should go die for Ukraine also think it was wrong for Irish people to fight for the six counties in the north.

A NATO country occupies Ireland and they killed Irish civilians relentlessly until we gave up any claim to that part of Ireland. The people who care more about Ukraine than Ireland are traitors.
