With a partner as unreliable, the challenge to Europe cannot be clearer.
In the words of one former Baltic foreign minister: “There is a glaringly obvious message for Europe in the 28-point plan: This is the end of the end.
“We have been told repeatedly and unambiguously that Ukraine’s security, and therefore Europe’s security, will be Europe’s responsibility. And now it is. Entirely.”
If Europe does not step up to the plate and guarantee Ukraine’s security in the face of this American betrayal, we could all pay the consequences.
Except, Europe is too fragmented to do anything about it. Same old story.
Maybe Europe should just be limited to an economic union and set aside the rest, cause clearly each country is only in it for themselves and couldn’t give two shits about the collective union…
To be frank and honest:
if EU let this happen then the EU shouldnt exist anymore.
Who takes something serious when all they do is nothing and wait to be butchered by the enemy ?
The EU is an union which prevents war and protect others of aggression through trade and friendship.
So this is EU’s most important Hour. To block trump, xi jinping and putins axis of evil or go into irrelevancy
He raises a good point. The freeloading is starting to end but there’s a long way to go and even now there are still countries in W. Europe that seem to not understand that an attack on the East affects everyone.
It’s not a peace plan, it’s a surrender ultimatum.
Europe is the puppy of the USA and will do as they say
I would say this is what it is. Europe departs for the US and does itself. If Ukraine is fine with that.
Nice words won’t help anyone on anything.
Should Europe really want to “guarantee the safety of Ukraine”, by current situation, nothing will work except direct military intervention, which essentially means to put European soldiers into harm’s way. It may lead to tremendous casualties. On individual level, European people will have to be mentally prepared to see ourselves or someone we love died in Ukraine’s battleground.
Next time when everyone is furious and eager to do something, please think about these hard questions: how much would you like to do for Ukraine’s safety? Do you feel ready to make the ultimate sacrifice? I don’t blame you if you don’t, but from what I see in Europe, most people are not.

Trumps version of peace is to just surrender and then give up your ability to defend yourself.
Utterly unacceptable. Unconscionable.
The world must not allow such shameful duplicitous treachery. For the US to say they stand for freedom and then to turn against a nation defending itself from aggression is appalling.
The US will not be forgiven if they allow this to continue.
The only way to truly guarantee Ukraine’s and Europe’s security is to make sure that russian state is fragmented into many smaller states and their nukes are destroyed but so far EU can’t even stop buying russian energy after almost 4 years of full scale war and poor europeans are becoming so tired of the war they don’t even fight so they elect “pro-peace” politicians who are basically putin’s puppets. We started with Hungary and Austria as pro russian states and now we also have Slovakia, Czechia and were close to have France and Romania in russian orbit, not to mention very worrying tendencies in Germany.
Should Zelensky accept the Trump plan, Europe should stay the fuck away from Ukraine, because a few years down the road Ukraine will be another Russian shithole and every Euro we have sent there for the purpose of rebuilding would be wasted.
Should Ukraine decide to keep fighting and resisting the invasion, Europe needs to evaluate its commitment. There is no point in continuing the lukewarm, half-assed support.
Should Europe decide to take over and fully support Ukraine, we should be wary and be prepared for any possible backstabbing. The US and China will look for any way, and possibly find one, to economically exploit any weakness we might be forced to show.
This peace plan sounds like threatening everyone except Putin.
This is not Trump’s plan, but Putin’s.
Also this is not a peace plan, but an invasion plan.
