How about they withhold the weapons they send to Israel to kill children instead?

Good. UNRWA should be reformed (IMHO let UNHCR take over – like anywhere else).
Btw, Germany is a Top 3 long-term donor nation to Palestine, behind the US, sometimes in front, sometimes behind Japan, followed by the UK and in some orgs Norway.
Since 2024, they are the largest donor, by far. Followed by EU, whose funding for these donations they lead, too.
That’s why their comments on this issue actually matter, while governments that are mostly talk, like Spain and Ireland (or any BRICS member), do not. For better or worse, German political establishment is dead set on supporting both sides, with massive investment, if they see a need for it. UNRWA can not ignore Germany being unhappy and will have to adress whatever concerns they have, because, if they follow the US in scrapping funding, UNRWA will break apart.
Spain, Ireland, China, Colombia, South Africa, all the usual performative actors have done nothing to replace the US as a donor, so they likely wouldn’t replace Germany, either.
Germany is also Top 3 donor to UNHCR and WFP, so whatever reform they want to see, is unlikely to be an attempt to deny Palestinians aid. If they would want to do that, they could have just halved their donations and would still be one of the largest donors. That’s how massive their support is. IMHO, most of the critics of Germany are the ones that don’t actually care about the well-being of Palestinians.
Edit: Actually, the insults Germany receives are potentially harmful for Palestinians. Imagine Germany ever gets a government that is more utilitarian and does care less about values. In that case, aid is mostly a tool to accrue soft power. If Germany gets insulted while donating big, they might as well cut the aid, as they lose nothing in addition (since the gain in public opinion is denied, anyways).

That is one thing many often forget, Germany has consistently over decades been one of the largest providers of, unlike others that mainly deal in big speeches, real aid and funds to Palestine/pro-Palestinian aid organizations.
And look at how we are treated by them for this. Could have been hated the same for zero Euros instead of for hundreds of millions.

Good. UNRWA needs to either be dismantled and replaced by aid that actually helps Palestinian instead of acting as a cover for terrorists and a tool for indoctrinating kids to become antisemites and islamists.

Good, if we could stop throwing good money into a burning pit, and focus on the conflict at our direct border instead, that would be great.

At the same time [Germany lifts restrictions on arms exports to Israel](https://www.politico.eu/article/germany-lifts-israel-arms-export-freeze-after-cease-fire-stabilizes/). Quite a turn of tide, hmm..
It’s just withholding “support” in the vote in the UN that had a majority nevertheless.
The payment of millions into the corrupt and violent UNRWA system continues
I’m sure all of the commenters here are such huge supporters of the people of Gaza on any other given day
well this is going to be a spicy comment section
