So want them to qualify. Would be something to look forward to in the summer.

The class aspect to rugby will always mean it won’t capture our hearts like football

This is ultimately a football country at a national team level and we’ve forgotten that as the form has been poor.

I still love the rugby now but even grand slams haven’t captured national attention like that Troy Parrot goal

How is France so consistently good at both simultaneously? Colonialism?

Soccer will always capture the attention of the country. A goal against Italy to come third in the Euro 2916 group and qualify for the knockout stages brings more joy to the nation than any Six Nations win.

Shooting themselves in the foot with ticket prices for the November games, live very close to the Aviva and the atmosphere from the outside was dog shit for all 3 compared to the Portugal game

I feel like when we do good with one the other is struggling. While I would like to see both do well at the same time, I don’t think it has happened yet.

  9. I’ll never understand this country’s obsession with football, considering how utterly shit we are at it.

Soccer is a bit like breathing. Everyone participates in it, regardless of understanding the rules, and if you know how it works you can convince yourself that you’re smart

Delighted to see this, the rugby team are not as good as they think they are. We’ve always been a football country and will continue to do even if the bottlers get past a Quarter Final of a 6 team tournament

  12. Thanks to the Brazilian immigration to Ireland, we are reaping the rewards from this fusion.

Rugby is the ultimate bandwagon sport, not many people follows it at club level , only provincial and international level.

Football is the sport of the common man not the D4 dads and yummy mommies looking for a day out at the Aviva.
