Why do central Europe get all the extreme weather, while middle Scandinavia seems to be getting mostly meh the entire year?

I assume the inhabitans of hammerfest are now considering putting on long sleeve clothing

We got quite a bit of snow here in Switzerland however it isn’t as crazy as it was exactly a year ago. Still nice to have some cold weather though.

You’re kidding me….!?
In mid November it gets cold in the northern hemisphere????
You’re blowing my mind, here!
I live in California and it’s been starting to get a bit cooler here, too, lately….
Do you think there’s any connection, or just a random coincidence in the way weather works?
I’ve been told that we’re in global warming, but now I don’t know what to think anymore.
Please help,

We woke up to snow today, which is fairly rare even in december these years.
While on paper we’ve had one of the hottest summers this year, from the beginning of July it was uncharacteristically cold and rainy.
Mark my words, this will be a cold winter for central europe.

It’s called winter 😊
On this date in 1984, it was 14.6 C where I live. In 1998 it was -5.1
That’s how nature works.

What do you mean cold spell? The temps are as they should be, given the time of year.

Meanwhile here it’s probably the 5th day in a row with temperatures in the low 20s during the day

Guys…it’s not the point that it gets colder in the winter, the interesting part is that the cold front is super localized in central Europe, while big parts of northern Europe remain warmer. Additionally, we had 15-20 C just last week. So we went from spring weather to deep winter in a few days.
Don’t interpret too much into it. We can just be fascinated by weather patterns without having to project politics onto them.

How well the Carpathian Mountains protect us, Hungarians, from the cold coming from the north.
