Avverte che mentre l’Europa sottolinea con orgoglio il suo sostegno all’Ucraina, i numeri rivelano una dolorosa verità: l’Europa ha dato 187 miliardi di euro all’Ucraina ma ha inviato 311 miliardi di euro alla Russia attraverso le importazioni.

while this is a serious problem, to finance RU, the solution is not as simple as stopping the imports. The 187€ billion probably also comes as benefits from the imports, i.e., raw materials create added value in EU on which VAT and other taxes are applied to feed the governments.
Modest proposal: do Oil for Food, but for Russia
Same as Iraq had to do after they invaded Kuwait – they can export oil but the money goes to an escrow fund which is managed by someone else (or by Ukraine, why not). If they want to buy anything using that money, whoever manages the fund can make sure what they buy absolutely doesn’t help their military – food, medicines yes, computers no, drone parts absolutely not
They *could* choose not to export – but if they do export it should only be this way
I truly hope that the majority of these 311 billion euros were paid in the first 24 months of the full scale invasion, when we were still completely dependent on Russia, and that this has since been significantly reduced.
THAT needs to change. IMMEDIATELY.

If Russia wins, they all lose. Sure wish the US would also commit and help put an end to Putin and his aspirations.
those two numbers are not comparable. russia probably profits a few tens of billions, whereas europe needs those imports to produce stuff, including aid for ukraine.

Europe has the spine of a fungus.
Put the Russian oil money in the frozen asset accounts. Tell Putin he gets it after he signs a peace deal and pays for rebuilding ukraine. Interest in the accounts go to Ukraine.
While this looks bad, you can also view it as Russia still trading with the countries that send weapons to Ukraine that kill their soldiers. Neither side would want to do these trades if they didn’t have to.
