30-31 for enabling review and rent increases on council rentals. Very very on the line.

It doesn’t seem to be a blanket increase for all renting through the council, but could see folks with low rent agreements seeing large increases over time.

Bit of a bait title from the journal to catch the eye.

It will be interesting to see how they roll it out.

I’d be disappointed if anyone is getting a 50% increase in one go regardless of what their rent might be. That’s a shock to any ones system, has to have a measured approach to ensure the services can be funded at the very least.

They’re still, even at this rate, paying peanuts.

Needs to rise more, so that social housing is sustainable. More rent means more budget, means more houses, being in a council house shouldn’t be a lottery ticket

They could go all on social housing, raise the threshold to €100k for a couple and get the social mix, even at 20% of income rents will be sustainable and allow more to be built..
