I dont get it. Surely shopping centers should be trying to entice you to come and shop in their stores rather than online. Or are we so far gone down the consumerist route they think we will shop there anyway.

“but they’re not actually increasing public transport provision in any way.”

That’s not really the responsibility of the private operator of a shopping center is it?

Parking charges have been in shopping centres for years. They are private landlords who rent the units to retail, and they feel the need to charge for their car parks because they can, which in most cases, are in place decades.

Vote with the wallet or purse.

People Before Profit. Sounds more like Cars Before People.

Similarly sad to see Mandate say that no one should pay for parking at there place of work. We are going to have to build a lot more city centre car parks.

Is there a minimum spend to get the receipt to scan out? Pack of chewing gum or a freddo bar in the shop and you can park all day?

I live 4km from the centre. Every evening in December, the bus will be twice as quick. There are about 10 buses that go there from all over the area. Parking the car takes as long as driving to the place. I will actively go more now
