    1. Note that this requires Poland to recognise same-sex marriages conducted in other EU member states.

They are not requiring Poland to allow same-sex marriages in Poland.

At this rate the opposition will have a constitutional majority by 2027.

Paradoxically it will also allow Tusk to salami slice the Left and prevent them from entering Parliament.

    3. I’m quite sure both president and TK will do their best to prevent that.

I wonder if gov decides to go full ham with their proposal, or just very token approach in hopes that everyone (on both sides) will let it slide.

    4. The president already said he will veto it, so this news is a nothing burger. The current ruling party is known to be friendly towards LGBT, so again, nothing newsworthy here.

What could pass (and not get vetoed, as indicated by the president) is some legislation that would let homosexual (and other non-married) couples have some of the benefits that marriage entails, like for example being able to visit each other in a hospital, but likely none of the financial benefits.

I don’t know if same-sex marriage can be legally recognized in Poland. It may simply not be feasible without amending the law. And I’d sooner grow a cactus on my hand than see Nawrocki sign such a bill.

won’t happen, Tusk isn’t pro-LGBT either – just ask Polish left. he will cynically play around with the topic at best.

Is *Notes from Poland* still mainly funded by the US Government via the “National Endowment for Democracy”?

      > “There is a very high risk that this is a very dangerous precedent that will seek to impose rainbow marriages on Poles…which will completely destroy the family,” he declared. “[We] will not succumb to the terror of rainbow rulings.”
