Absolutely wild decrease. I think these numbers would be the lowest since 2006.
Still won’t be enough for most but this is a huge win for Labour.

I argued with someone on here that Labour wouldn’t get the figures down to anywhere near 200k.
I was wrong. I apologise to whoever it was.

Is this due to a fall in arrivals, or an increase in people leaving?
>The Home Office data shows that 111,000 people claimed asylum in the year ending September 2025
Surely half our migration isn’t due to asylum claims?

Ok. The problem is that for the people who get angry about such things they’ll just say the number is still too high.

130,000 UK nationals left. 70,000 EU nationals left
We gained 330,000 non EU nationals over that time while loosing more EU and UK citizens.
This probably isnt great news for people worried about the ‘demographics’ of the UK.
Labour voters will literally latch onto any headline regardless of the substance of the article.

The levels are still too high for my liking but this is a big victory for labour. They can draw a distinction between the recklessness of conservative governments and declare themselves the party of sensible immigration policy. It also lowers the appeal of reform which is a big problem all the major parties face. Can they communicate this win to the public? I’m not so certain.

And watch as the right pivot from demanding immigration falls to demanding remigration of recent arrivals, and then to anyone not white.
This is already the central position of the far right, and with Reform promoting people like Goodwin and the Tories likely to make Jenrick leader it will be the mainstream rightwing position soon.
Brace for impact.

And for reference the ONS puts the population growth break even level for net migration at around 120-130k so effectively this level of immigration results in a very small population growth of around 70-80k for the year.

So Labour have overseen a drop of 75%, now I know some of this was due to the Tories undoing some of their own shit policy but it really shouldn’t matter, if this was Reform in charge and they oversaw a 75% decrease the right wing press would be falling over themselves to praise their ‘brave patriotism’ or some shit like that.

Good news, but that’s still a city the size of Milton Keynes arriving in a year, completely unsustainable. We can’t build enough new houses, roads, doctors, schools etc etc for that many people every year.
But hopefully this downward trend continues to a more manageable number!
lol, why is simply saying we need to get migration down to a manageable number getting downvoted? 😂

And I can guarantee you reform won’t pipe down and this won’t affect reforms polling.
Because it’s always been about their feelings than any reality.

This would be great news if the Reform voters were to notice, however, I suspect that any warm feelings they might have from hearing this news will evaporate the moment they see a brown person doing their weekly shop and they will return to their frothing conviction to throw away their rights, NHS and line the pockets of ol’ “it was just a schoolboy phase” Nige and his amoral billionaire chums.
– non-EU+ nationals accounted for 41% of total emigration (286,000)
– British nationals made up 36% (252,000)
– EU+ nationals made up 22% (155,000)

Place your bets: will this actually improve Labour’s electoral outlook?

“the net migration figure for non-EU nationals was 383,000” That is (still) simply unsustainable.
Either way, expect this 204,000 figure to be highly revised. Hopefully Shabana Mahmood’s plans get voted through in Commons.

Wait almost half our net immigration is from asylum claims? That feels wild to me.

Good news overall, however:
>Overall, the provisional figures show 70,000 more EU nationals left than arrived, while 109,000 British nationals also left. By contrast, the net migration figure for non-EU nationals was 383,000.
These are figures that are going to start being talked about more, I suspect.

Although we desperately needed reforms to reduce immigration, that is worryingly far too aggressive, if numbers keep dropping that quickly we could end up in a lot of trouble. There is no point trying to use this to appease the right because many will never be happy until that figure is 0 and instead we are rounding them all up in the streets and deporting them.

Labour have delivered a good budget and oversaw a decrease in migration that’s a huge win 💪

Finally now put a good system in place to support those who want to integrate properly into Britain.

For some clarity on emigration per the [ONS](https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/internationalmigration/bulletins/longterminternationalmigrationprovisional/yearendingjune2025):
