The only pushed/forced decision, that most people actually agree on.

This sub would probably lose half of it’s members if this passed…/s

There has been a lot of discussion on this issue on this sub, and there is no consensus on whether it is right or wrong.
It is not yet clear to me how the effectiveness of the decision is planned to be assessed – what assessment methods are planned in order to conclude whether the ban was effective and how effective

So the problem is not lies, hate and garbage on social media, but the users under 16?

And how do users over 16 deal with the social media dirt?

The European Parliament seems to be getting ahead of itself lately. I don’t think there’s anywhere close to a consensus opinion EU wide on this so it would be far more logical to allow national freedom until such a consensus arrives. Stop trying to force half baked ideas down everyone’s throats.

      To the EU meatriders here,

Looking forward to losing all your privacy rights. No GDPR can save you. Waiting for your ID to leak, for governments to bar you from accessing stuff you could always access before due to “errors” and getting nannied on the internet with tons of limitations. Have fun being babied and fed only what the states approve.

Fuck Ursula wannabe China and her social credit score.

    7. This means putting an age verification on the entire internet, how else can it work? It’s a total invasion of privacy and kids will keep using it regardless. Kids are not dumb these days like these boomers want to think, they are born in the era of digital devices, they know how to use a vpn. It’s responsability of the parents to not give a fucking phone to a 3years old, not the government. I wish they cut all this dystopian and authoritarian bullshit in the name of children, cause i know these people don’t give a flying fuck about that, they just want to put all Europe under mass surveillance.

      >European parliament calls for social media ban on under-16s

Meaning: European parliament calls for social media to require mandatory ID verification of all users.

Just more excuses to implement ID checking, data theft and privacy destruction.

    10. Tbh this is unenforceable and plainly to end the free Internet.

If your goal is to help children bzild a safe space online.

Give parents the chance to protect their children without isolating them socially.

Businesses regulate their networks ehy shouldn‘t parents be capable doing so.
