>The Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) said that value of the penalty orders, which are close to the statutory maximum, are **in addition** to the tax paid to the Dutch Tax Administration at the end of 2024.

In come the dipshits who don’t read the article and think Morgan Stanley made a profit because the fine is less than the evaded taxes.

Fined less than they made out with, means it’s incentivised

The title is not poorly written, ya’ll just don’t understand the difference between evading owed taxes and getting issued a fine/penalty for that evasion.
Everyone should understand that if you are fined €1000 for not paying taxes, that 1K is in addition to whatever you actually owed, oftentimes with some form of interest applied.

This is fucking nuts… what is the point of “punishment” which is less than “crime”? They still net positive after all this.
Really poorly written. Slightly better article [here](https://www.sharecast.com/news/international-companies/morgan-stanley-accepts-euro101m-fine-in-dutch-tax-evasion-case–21297791.html).
