It was true 10 years ago, it’s still true now, ,and no one gives a shit, as long as they get their slice of the money pie.
Is it less than the cost of net zero though is the meaningful question.

Worth remembering that the climate and environment are *already* ruined.
The UK used to be nearly all trees and forest. It used to have bears and wolves. There used to be glaciers on the mountains. Only 10k years ago you used to be able to walk to france and sea level rise flooded the route.
Yet most people think these things are fine. Nobody is losing sleep over the extinction of the dodo or the fact they can’t walk to france like their 500th great grandfather did.
In the next few thousand years we’ll see loads more warming, loads more sea level rise, loads more extinctions, etc… But people alive then will still think everything is fine. You don’t miss what you never had.
Even if we make every animal extinct and turn the world into a desert, schoolchildren will just think of plants and animals like some curiosity like we think of the dinosaurs.
