      Our generous benefits regime (comparable to other countries incl. UK) chickens now coming home to roost. Asylum seekers aren’t fools – they want to maximise their lot.

      Everything is a two way street, if we have a strong social
      net then we need strong borders. Nobody wants migrant tent camps popping up in Dublin. But unbelievably this is the situation we are in. I don’t think this is incompetence from politicians because the solution is so obvious and would be widely supported from the electorate. I think this is a wealth transfer from the tax payer to various immigration housing companies

      Couldn’t believe reading that asylum seekers could apply for citizenship after three years. Can you imagine rocking up to a country and throwing away your passport and getting all of the supports and then citizenship after three years? No wonder we are being flooded with “asylum seekers.” You have my partner who would only dream of getting citizenship being an immigrant and going through all the legal channels. We are getting rode. Just look at all the bots in this group supporting it. People out there are benefiting and we’re losing out. And the real refugees aren’t getting any help. But sure look, it’s grand. A stroke of a pen might take 10 years.

      Its a joke that they are seeking Asylum and going through a bunch of safe countries before coming here.

      FFG speaking like this became evident today, and not years ago. FFG speaking like they didn’t tar & feather people for saying these things when they actually started happening, years ago.

      Sure wouldn’t you know it. About 5 years later and now we are where the UK was 5/10 years ago. We have 15 years before the Catholic church starts educating our kids again in increasing measures.
