      >Members will vote on the options, which include its temporary name “Your Party”, at its inaugural conference in Liverpool this weekend. The other three names on the table are, “Our Party”, “Popular Alliance”, and “For the Many”

      Idiots. Complete idiots.

I am sorry, but the Monty Python sketch is entirely appropriate here.

Please let the final vote be between the People’s Popular Front and the Popular Front of the People.

And what democratic process will they be using to decide the name? A simple majority vote or will they search for consensus?

And more importantly! What democratic process will they use to decide the democratic process for naming decision?

It’s not pining! It’s passed on! This party is no more! It has ceased to be! It’s expired and gone to meet its maker! This is a late party! It’s a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed it to the conference, it would be pushing up the daisies! It’s run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible! This is an ex-party!

So ‘The Couldn’t Organise a Piss-up in a Brewery Party’ was already taken?

Sorry. But Zarah and Jeremy definitely don’t align together. They’ve fucked up over and over again.

And I still don’t have that first fee back from when they sent out that email about the membership…

‘Your Party’ has been a complete disaster and spectacularly amateurish right from the get go! It’s a monumental joke.

Just call it “The Left”. How the fuck is “Our Party” beating out “The Left” to this shortlist.

Are they still trying to pretend this mess is going to manage to limp along as far as the next election?

Your Party”, at its inaugural conference in Liverpool this weekend. The other three names on the table are, “Our Party”, “Popular Alliance”, and “For the Many”

For the many would be shortened to ftm which would cause potential upset and confusion

Popular alliance may as well be called generic association

      Our party sounds okay

I actually think your party is the best. Because news headlines will have a field day with that

I like to imagine they’ve spent the last six months in committee meetings arguing about the shortlist.

    14. Well that’s dead in the water then. Honestly as much as I hate to say it but they should really be taking a leaf out of the reform playbook here and just have like a one word mission statement as the party name. But then I guess they’d need a clear mission…

The “Your Party” is gramatically awkward as fuck.

The “Our Party” sounds like “Our fathers” or something and is also gramatically awkward.

Both have an ambiguous naming that can lead to confusion. Talk to a Tory and say “Your Party have claimed that they will bring free broadband to everyone” and the Tory might be momentarily confused as to what policy they mean. It will lead to qualifiers, like “Jeremy Corbyn’s Our Party” or something.

“Popular Alliance” jokes write themselves if they lose elections. I guess they weren’t so popular. Etc.

The “For the Many” party is also gramatically awkward with “The for the”.

None of them are great. But everyone’s been calling it “Your Party” for ages, so I get the feeling people will just choose that one by default.

It’s over. The Greens snatched your place and are rocketing. Read the room.

    18. Eclectika on

Popular Alliance smacks of the Independent Alliance – who have been causing a lot of trouble during the setup for this.

Also, it’s not popular and it’s not an alliance if there’s already seriously nasty factionalism coming out of JCs/IA camps.

They’ve managed to drive so many of their natural supporters to the Greens, which under their new leader is looking sane and convincing.
