Well extremism is normally born from being excluded, wanting to be part of something, and then being groomed into the ideology, so, not particularly surprised really.
Ok own up! Who called this guy a Nazi? I am sure he was just a concerned person asking questions before someone called him that after all.
This is getting ridiculous… he got 20 months in prison for 9 “hateful” tweets (non of which were calls for violence), yet Ricky Jones gets off with nothing for standing up in front of people saying we need to slit the throats of the far right
I looked at this guys twitter profile, and yeah he’s got a bunch of Jewish memes, conspiracy theories etc. That’s what we are jailing people for now in the UK? Pathetic.
Social media is FULL of this sort of stuff, Instagram, twitter, tiktok, you name it, loads of stuff getting millions of views, 100ks replies, of stuff that if posted by someone in the UK, can land them in jail.
And for everyone saying “well just don’t be an asshole”, I could go on twitter right now and find plenty of British accounts saying batshit crazy, mean, offensive things about all sorts of other groups of people / individuals, “Men” or “JK Rowling” and nothing would will happen to them. We have a strange inconsistent selective outrage of our speech for certain groups the moment in the UK.
“Banning” this stuff won’t make it go away, if anything this is just going to cause further resentment and push people further in that direction.
Weird that the headline is that a guy ran a Twitter account, not that he got jailed for doing so. That seems like the story.
Jailed for 20 months for howling crass, distateful low IQ racism into the void.
If he’d been hoarding CSAM he’d probably have gotten a suspended sentence.
We can see by the way it operates what our system considers a true cardinal sin and what it doesn’t.
I find his content unpalatable, but stringently believe that his posting it shouldn’t be a crime.
The UK really likes arresting people for speech these days huh.
I’m sure everyone cheering this on won’t mind when Reform get in and start adding to the list of topics or opinions you can’t discuss.
