A review into Tusla’s handling of Kyran Durnin’s disappearance has been completed but the full report will not be made public.

It found policy and practice weaknesses in Tusla’s involvement but said it couldn’t show a direct link between those and what happened to Kyran.

That’s utterly hollow when you remember: a child is still dead presumed murdered, never found.

From previous discussions, I know people will try to lump on Tulsa directly, but everything I’ve seen is the issue is the funding isn’t enough to employ enough people to operate at the needed level.

Think of the job they’re having to do, with kids in awful circumstances. But the wages on offer are poor, and they struggle to keep hold of staff, so no shit a lack of consistency means a lot of stuff is getting missed. The job would struggle to maintain staff if they were paid well, let alone given how it’s currently operated. And that struggle means there’s not enough staff to keep proper tabs on kids that need help.

What’s happened is atrocious, but it also feels there’s a certain group trying to shove the blame onto Tulsa itself. Nearly excusing the issues coming from above them.

    >Though a number of recommendations have been made public, the Attorney General has determined that the review itself cannot be published as it could prejudice “any potential prosecutions” in the future.

If that’s truly the case, so be it; but it’s hard not to suspect that there’s some element of back covering going on.
