The title of the article is clickbait. Any VPN bans do not strictly target iOS and Android, they target all VPNs across all platforms.

    >The best way to enforce porn laws is to ban free VPNs and VPNs from unofficial stores. That stops any casual use. Parents can then use existing family app store payment approvals to stop VPNs being installed by their kids.

So the authors support the VPN ban now? Maybe parents should actually parent instead of delegating their responsibilities to big brother? This is neverminding that their suggestion runs afoul of the DMA.

“It coincides with VPN installs surging — almost all of which will be adult users”

And by that, they mean that all the users checked the 19+ age box. And no one would lie on the internet.

Well… good luck business users that use VPN’s for work.

Funny enough These regional blocks don’t even require a vpn to bypass if it’s not made by the website itself.

Shiiit, my country blocked torrent and pirate movie sites a couple of years ago and everyone still uses them without a vpn, just change one setting in your network settings and you are good. (Not going to say what it is to not get the comment deleted by mods)

Why don’t these cunts just make “kid internet” or some kind of kid device with built in blockers and security that parents can get for their kids to be safe on? The only reason for this is mass surveillance:(

I highly doubt they will ban VPN altogether. Big corporations will have something to say as VPN’s are widely used to secure company communications. Either the article is junk or someone is insane.

  6. No mention in the article of any European country actually attempting ban VPNs

  7. OP the author of the article seems to be pro VPN ban or am I misreading?

I’m really wondering if this has anything to do with porn or may it just be a gateway excuse to govern VPNs by governments.

People. Its not about porn ffs. They want to monitor you. Ok? They want to monitor you so they can control you.

We all need to boycott both and use open source alternatives. Fuck that.

If VPN’s are banned from app stores on phones etc that wouldn’t stop you from configuring a router. Even if they came for commercial VPN providers (which I doubt they could) what’s stopping you from setting one up yourself?

What happens when all countries do this ID check for adult content? What good is a VPN then?

You know, all things considered from the way governments behaves, I can see where the nutjobs of covid sceptics or certain conspiracy theorist comes from.

I dont share their views but the governments keeps giving people ammunition to think crazy things and I may just end like that too

Can’t parents just set things up on the phones to stop the kids accessing things they shouldn’t instead of expecting governments to do it for them by bringing in authoritarian laws

Yet another step towards the 2030 Agenda. Look up North Korean phones and how they work, we’ll have the same thing in 5 years. This is also why they are nuking the PC market by pricing everyone out of RAM. They want everyone to use AI-based cloud platforms that are scanned top to bottom with Palantir and can only be accessed with a digital ID (which can be temporarily disabled if you say or do something wrong). The population will censore themselves since if you say anything that can be seen as hate speech or anti-government propaganda you get locked out of your digital ID for 2 weeks and won’t even be able to access your bank account to buy groceries. Now go ahead, call me conspiracy theorist nutjob if you need to, see you in 5 years.

  18. Soon, the internet will be fully regulated, requiring users to upload every bit of personal data to use it.

Everyone says it’s for the protection of children — how about teaching parents to supervise their kids instead?
