Aw, poor America. It’s almost like actions have consequences.

  2. mage_irl on

That’s crazy when at the same time I’m hearing news that the US cut communications to the head of the german military, almost like they are insincere

  3. Wondering if they were at all lobbied by US military contractors, lol.

  4. Europe was supposed to take Trump’s arrogant treatment and like it!

  5. Appropriate-Ball293 on

They live in two parallel worlds. Trump is asleep, Trump is awake.

  6. Thunderbird_Anthares on

well maybe then they shouldnt have done everything possible to cast doubt on their reliability as a defense partner then

i suggest they go complain to their government for loss of profit

  7. Crazy-Canuck463 on

And on this note. I’d like to thank Europe for allowing us canadians to join in the defense build up. Its going to help us get out from underneath Americas thumb.

Treat the whole world like shit and then get butthurt when the world walks away. Pathetic America

  9. The US itself is very protectionistic.

And we just have to accept that when it comes to defense spending and many other big spending bills they will be tailored for domestic industry. That’s really the only way to get enough political support for them.

they want business in europe? fuck them. with trump they made their choice. europe can’t be dependent on something such immoral and corrupt as trump when it comeds to our defense.

  11. Used-Sun5726 on

Can’t imagine why people you treated like shit want nothing to do with you.

The US pushing the EU to spend more on their militaries was never about the EU carrying their own weight but about using EU expenditures to fund economy of scale of American armaments while making the EU increasingly dependent on the US.

Just look at the F-35.  Mission data must be sent from servers the US can access.  Some maintenance must be done by US personnel.  Weapon integration of EU weapons won’t happen this decade forcing countries with F-35s to buy AMRAAMs or not have a BVR missile.  Some key part replacements are only made in the US.  The F-35 uses a closed source system that only the US and Israel can access so only they can perform updates.

The US doesn’t want allies, it wants client states that won’t fight back because the world is scary without American protection.

    > Deputy Secretary Landau delivered two key messages. One is the is the need for Europe to turn its defense spending commitments into capabilities. **The second is that protectionist and exclusionary policies that bully American companies out of the market undermines our collective defense.**

Care to remind me who started putting unilateral tarrifs against most of the world except Russia and its allies ?

  14. heatrealist on

It’s perfectly fine I think. So too would it be fine for the US to cut out european manufacturers from its procurement process. No one is entitled to make money off the other.

  15. That’s the thing. Being a staunch ally makes your friends comfortable buying military stuff from you, but when you treat your allies like shit and actually take the side of the enemy, they want nothing to do with you.

    > Landau, a longtime **NATO skeptic** who spoke first at the closed-door meeting, told ministers not to **“bully”** his country’s defense firms out of participating in Europe’s rearmament.

You can’t make this up. What a fucking joke these people are.

    Peço desculpa, não falo Americano.

    Portugal Primeiro!

Fair is a one-way street for the Trump administration.

Fair for me not for thee.

American here, fuck that guy. Fuck MAGA, and the whole traitorous lot of Putin’s MAGAt stooges.

Their comeuppance will cost me, but it will be worth it to put these fat, white, thin-skinned losers back under the rock they slithered out of.

The US isn’t cut out of the buildup. They’re just not the main supplier. As they never were.

The US wants Europe to spend more on their own protection, threatens the sovereignty of allied countries and explicitly states that Europe is a burden to them and that the mutual relationship we have had with each other for decades is bad for the US.

The US has had access to a huge, rich market, strategic placement of military bases from which they can project power, a dominant cultural influence over the western world, and they supply a large amount of European military, technological, and administrative infrastructure at both the state and industry level. They also gained a Europe with no ambition of militarisation.

Europe gained security, stability, lower defence costs, and a semi-integration with the US.

Both sides gained positives out of this relationship. But, if the US wants out, and is showing it is an unstable partner, Europe in it’s current state will rather try to make homegrown alternatives.

I personally don’t care either way, either we have a relationship, or we don’t, but the US can’t expect to pull out of the relationship we’ve had and then keep all the benefits that they have gotten because of it. Europe seems to largely understand that, if the relationship fails, we will lose these benefits and have to rely on ourselves. Which is much easier today, because Europe is much more united and integrated than ever before.

I find it odd that a lot of US politicians claims that they are just losing money on the relationship with Europe though. This relationship has been a huge economic boon for the US, but a detangling of our relationship will obviously mean that trade, and any economic action will happen on less US aligned terms, because they have made it clear that Europe has to look out for itself.

Bitch Europe should be self reliant

Bitch Europe is trying to be self reliant

Can the US shut up for literally a single week this entire year has just been exhausting

  23. mariuszmie on

Haha so they can do it to Europe but Europe can’t do it to them

  24. Don’t they really understand? Europe didn”t buy American weapons, but an alliance. And that’s gone.

  25. DatokahTheInnocent on

Can they make their damn minds up what they want to do?

  26. blowinghauntingtune on

How petty, anyone with a brain knows the US might as well be west Russia now. The current US administration bent over and gave them everything. Fuck Musk

  27. slimfastdieyoung on

The US can’t be trusted anymore so why support them? Maybe they can find a new market for their equipment with killswitches. Have they tried their new buddy, Russia?

  28. GreatConsequence7847 on

Doesn’t make sense to make your defense industry dependent on a potential enemy.

  29. spooky! Almost as if the US are preparing to get behind Russia if/when they decide to start attacking Europe…

  30. Vanima_Permai on

America burns all bridges wonder why no one wants the hang over with them

  31. It should be fairly easy for any businessman to understand that self-made political uncertainty and volatility in the market is bad for business.

  32. travelcallcharlie on

US lecturing anyone on “undermining collective defence” is funny as fuck.

  33. blackburnduck on

Wow… its almost as if he is surprised countries dont trust america as allies anymore…

Is the USA official not aware of how damaging Trump has been to US and EU relationship?
