      People will criticize this, but isn’t it what the people of that local council voted for?

      They voted reform after all, isn’t this what they want to happen?

      £75,000 for 164 flags? Does somebody at Nottinghamshire County Council run a side business selling flags and hiring out cherry pickers?

      Reform are populist party, they see that people want flags on lampposts, so they fly flags on lampposts.

      It’s not about the money, it’s not about being effective as a council, it’s about optics, and looking like you are listening to your demographic.

      If Labour and Conservatives looked like they were listening to the voters, we wouldn’t have this “issue”.

      Edit:- People aren’t ready to accept the truth.
      Reform will win because people aren’t holding their own party to account for not delivering.
      Apathy is the end of democracy.

      The price is ludicrous, but it does objectively look nicer when the flags are professionally put up and not halfheartedly done. Seeing the Union Jack hung does feel good.

      I assume that if they’re spending taxpayer money on this they’ve already filled every pothole in the county. Very impressive!

      This is genius. As the residents gaze at the flags, they won’t feel the pain as they trip over broken paving. 2 for 1 !

      They’re coming to my town soon, you’d think they’d invest in flood protection instead that we sorely need. But hey, at least I can look at the flag as my house is drowned.

      Why are they spending money on flags while there are homeless people on the streets.

      Hopefully this will make the Reform voters in that area realise what a bunch of tossers Reform actually are.

      Don’t support Reform at all and don’t believe a word that they say, but what’s wrong with flags exactly?

      This council is looking like the fascist are taking over with national flag being put up akin to 1930s Germany.
