Because why shouldn’t a company who have raped the world for profit not care about the people working for them.
It’s not even shocking anymore.
And suddenly they’ll be wondering why they’re struggling with turnover and recruitment. Then some overpaid CEO will get on the news complaining that “no one wants to work anymore” 🙄
I can’t imagine there is much opportunity to take rest breaks, given that the majority seem to be lone workers, at least at night.
I wouldn’t be surprised if their breaks kept getting interrupted and staff didn’t mind as long as they were being paid. But by making their breaks unpaid, the knock-on effect is that employees are, understandably, less forgiving, and it ends up costing more to ensure adequate cover or to close the premises during lunch.
Looks like I’m adding bp to the list of oil suppliers I don’t use.
Even if the “scrap” bank holidays for forecourt staff. The staff will still legally have to receive that time of but now they can choose when to use those days.
Tell me you don’t want happy staff without telling me you don’t want happy staff.
Scummers.
Why??
“The Devil” is a human construct it seems.
Evil for evil’s sake.
BP reported a profit of $2.21 billion for the third quarter of 2025, they wouldn’t even notice if they kept paying staff those 20 minutes.
