Seems like some good news, removing un-viable projects becoming roadblocks and allowing faster deployment of new more viable schemes.
One fact in the article I was very surprised to read in the article, was that this week is the 25th anniversary of the first wind farm in the UK, I was shocked that the industry is that young and grown so fast! Seems surprising it is so much younger than me!
We already waste so much renewable energy at peak times because the grid is overloaded. It’s not more generation we need, we need major investment in grid capacity.
We wasted 1635 MWh of wind yesterday, enough to power almost a quarter of a million houses for the day. You can keep track [here](https://wastedwind.energy/2025-12-08)
People are quick to blame Nimbys for pointing out the lack of grid connections (or infrastructure generally) but it doesn’t get built by magic.
Great change, obviously we should prioritise the projects that are actually ready to get started.
