And then Trump would jump on that to call him a dictator 😅

But i wouldn’t mind to be honnest having zelensky keeping the reins, otherwise i am pretty sure russia would do whatever they can to rig the elections and…you know the story

    2. secondsniglet on

Would he make it to the second round? First rounds are often under-whelming since there are so many candidates. The poll itself is problematic because it assumes that all the possible candidates will run in the first round. In reality, many of the potential candidates will bow out, particularly if the war is still taking place.

    3. Ok-Addition1264 on

      Who would want to run?

You have a great president, Ukrainians, with wide international support.

Here in the US, we have a fucking horrendous moron piece of shit child rapist as a president – you don’t want one like ours.

    4. Boatsntanks on

Is Zelensky planning on running again? As far as I know he’s said he didn’t plan to.

Well, I doubt that people inside the occupied territories will have a real vote. They will be told whom they have to elect or killed probably. Why the f**k is Trump parroting Russian narratives and propaganda??? What can we all do to stop this idiocracy?

    6. Redneck1026 on

I read once he said he did not intend to run for office after the war. I imagine he is quite sick and tired of the office by now.

    7. MercatorLondon on

I can imagine he wouldn’t even want to run for president once this war is over.
He’s a young, decent actor with a beautiful family who must be longing to have him back.

That’s something utterly unimaginable for creatures like Putin or Lukashenko.

    8. Dexximator on

Elections which 100% will be won by some pro-russian jerk or populists which will trade more ukrainian territory for nothing.

    9. the_ruffled_feather on

That’s it? I think he’s shouldered this crisis as well as anyone reasonably would.

    10. You can’t have an election until Russians are thrown out of your country! That’s crazy. You could also invite Putin to take Kyiv for free.

    11. Vault_chicken_23 on

Couldn’t happen here but id vote for him in America if it were an option

    12. Bon101UK on

I hate to think this. But when Zelensky leaves office, what are the chances Russia will try off him? Can he ever go back to having a normal life?

    13. Kitchen_Scientist_33 on

My closest Ukrainian friend didn’t vote for him in the first place and probably wouldn’t again, should he choose to, unless there’s no other viable options. That said, she (and anyone else I know in Ukraine) does not and has never hated him, and she absolutely recognizes the incredibly hard job he’s had and has been extremely appreciative of how much having a camera-savvy/charismatic leader was for this moment in time.

He’s earned 20 lifetimes of retirement if he wants it. And the fact that Ukrainians still have opinions and the ABILITY to choose their own leadership is what it’s all about anyhow.

    14. shwarma_heaven on

Is that good? I don’t know how ultrasound elections work.

    15. They just need to make sure that the people who are going to be voted for arnt a Russian Puppet.

    16. sendmebirds on

He will never ever be safe from ruzzias jackals unless Putin dies. Even after the war he will remain to be a beacon of Ukrainian resistance and ruzzia will keep trying to kill him

    17. Glavurdan on

What many folks fail to realize is that this doesn’t mean Ukrainians want to vote for some pro-Russian candidate or appeaser, but rather most would vote for even more hardline or pro-European candidates like Zaluzhnyi, Budanov or Poroshenko

    18. Far-Crow-7195 on

I’m a big fan of Zelensky and think he is a very brave and effective war time leader. So what I say now is not a criticism. Whoever is President after the war will become very wealthy because of how things work there. I doubt Zelensky or anyone else would walk away from that opportunity.

    19. UncarefulEngineer on

I was never a fan of Zelenskyy, especially in pre-war times. If elections were to take place today, he is my strong plan C if none of my favorites decide to run for the presidency. The “plans A and B” are even more militaristic leaders, so if the US and Russia are assuming that with elections there comes a puppet who negotiates peace in any conditions, in my opinion, that’s a mistake.

    20. missglitterous on

I feel like Zelensky has been an incredible war time leader, but perhaps less impressive in general political matters.

    21. BigGaggy222 on

I’d vote for him and I am Australian. I can’t think of a greater leader in my (long) life time.

He is courageous, stoic, resolute and trustworthy.

    22. Beawake23 on

He was shocked USA citizens would elect a putin boy toy not once put twice. Horrific consequences of death s destruction. Traitor trump it’s very depressing

    23. beekeeper1981 on

This isn’t the first poll with low numbers.. part of it can be attributed to the fact Zelensky has said multiple times he doesn’t want to run again.
