“war in Ukraine” is the modern version of “the big boys did it and ran away”. The Scottish Civil Service is to big because the SNP expanded the public sector beyond the level they could afford expecting Westminster to pick up the tab.

They could have at least blamed Brexit or something, it’s not like they’re hiring soldiers to fight over there.

“Reform is being led by Ivan McKee but he has already been criticised for lacking any sort of plan. In briefings prepared for the Public Finance Minister, he is told to boast about cash-saving projects in other public bodies such as Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, despite both these organisations calling out for more cash or risk the safety of Scots.”

Civil servants are more important than police officers or firefighters, everybody knows that /s

“But no solid plans have been put in place for this, with Mr McKee being briefed on what to say if he is asked why Scotland’s public sector is so large. A note written for him, and obtained through freedom of information legislation, listed a number of excuses for him to use.”

The operative word here being ‘excuses’

This is socialism 101. Promise everyone a better life while sticking your hand in their pocket to steal their hard earned money then hand it out to a load of vested interests in order to buy votes. It’s what happens when elected representatives make decisions about where your hard earned money goes and is why the right constantly advocates for a smaller state. Governments are inherently corrupt and inefficient.

Is there no press officer at all in the SNP?
Do they run anything past anyone that hasnt drank that day?

  6. “Recent growth in the public sector workforce can be attributed to a range of issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the crisis in Ukraine, and, significant new powers including in Social Security and I recognise our public sector workforce will need to change shape and size – but that will be done in partnership with trade unions and will be based on priorities”.

Seems perfectly reasonable and a situation I’m sure is mirrored across the UK. Public services expanded in response to specific demands and will need to be strategically unwound or reshaped to reflect the most present landscape of primary concerns.

    What’s the hubbub?

Just another no content baiting article here to trigger the “SNP BAD SCARY SOCIALISTS” crowd.
