If nato had any weapon arsenal not counting america we could have already stopped this nonsense war from Russia or just threaten them with it instead we are just now making armies and creating weapons

Well, go on… start it. As someone living on the edge of EU I’m tired of living in semi-fear.

  3. I agree with the need to rearm ourselves, and i am glad we are finally stepping up our game after all these years, but we should avoid this type of fearmongering and propagandistic declarations, they are detrimental and only enrage people.

Trump is bending over for Putin (by selling out Ukraine) so that Russia joins the US in fighting China.

  5. One-Reflection-4826 on

no were not, except if US decides to invade mainland europe, and as stupit as they are, they are not _that_ stupid.

Is this the guy who said Trump was his “daddy”

  7. Slow-Release8111 on

Major problem here is that populations in the west are very demoralized, there’s no morale or will for population to fight if Russia invades baltics, some nations will be hesitant to send troops.

How? Last I heard Russia isn’t (supposedly according to EU leaders) even in a position to make demands in Ukraine, but are gonna invade all of NATO on a mass scale war like ww2?

And how is it we’re supposed to prepare for this massive scale war? Buying more US weapons and giving up more freedom and rights in the name of protecting ourselves from Russian influence?

Crazy convenient for all parties involved. Crazy.

Nukes are still nukes and the war in Ukraine in its current shape exists because nukes were threatened in an effort to keep European troops out.

There will be no war on the scale of our grandparents, because their way of waging war ended in Nagasaki. However there will be a new cold war, one of propaganda, one of ideologies. A war fought with lies fueling emotional responses of people to make them do things against their own interest. This war we will fight until the end of out lives.

Anybody arguing “omg fear mongering” is either pro Russian, a bot, or so delusional it’s not even funny. How about you do a calculation of the cost of preparation versus not doing appropriate preparation and having war?

  11. pureDDefiance on

You know how avoid it? Have such a strong military, Russia doesn’t dare. Plus show a willingness to hit back. Russia sabotages a rail line? Hack their grid and drop it. They close an airport with drones? Seize and impound all their shipping through the Baltic

Surprising that londonlovesbusiness.com is the only newssource reporting this fairly startling piece of news. One would think that was first page material for every newspaper in Europe at the very least.

Its allmost like londonlovesbusiness.com wants to generate clicks by a sensationalised headline for what is essentially a nothing burger.

We are always at the brink of war and 2 minutes from global annihilation.

  13. Troubleshooter11 on

Perhaps he wants the European NATO countries to be “overprepared” just incase Trump strikes a deal with Putin and refuses to assist.

  14. StuffyTruck on

    This is the Russian super-position.

Its stuck in a small town in Ukraine for years?

At the same time, its is a danger to NATO?

I just traveled from France over Netherlands to Germany without even showing my ID card once and everybody who wants to take that lifestyle away and replace it with some dictator shit must expect a fight.

As long as you’re with us in the frontlines mister secretary.

US abandoning NATO is one of the worst betrayals in history. I can’t understand that there isn’t more outcry in the US by its citizens.

Like the first 2 world wars, Canada will always have your back Europe! 🇨🇦

I mean I agree with his cause, we need to keep scaling up our military.

But war on the scale of our grandparents?! Against who?! Russia, that is struggling against just Ukraine? The way I could see that happen is if China and Iran and North Korea all join Russia in the war and bring a large portion of their troops to Europe’s borders.

  20. geocapital on

Risk from Russia for an outright war is minimal. Cyber and annoying drone stuff has been happening and will be happening between all superpowers.
And while I agree with the comment that the NATO chief should be more careful with his words, he’s also trying to make his position relevant and important and maybe even uniting, consider how distracted America is between Venezuela, internal issues, bad economy, and weak leadership.

  21. Common-Ad6470 on

He’s not wrong but with Putin struggling to subdue Ukraine it’s hard to imagine quite with what Putin is going to wage war considering that most of his tanks and best military units are twisted metal.

Yes he could threaten the nuclear option from day one unless his ‘demands’ are met but I would imagine that would just get Ruzzia completely isolated and embargoed as Europe scrambles to deal with a complete madman.

I don’t see he has any options for a war to be honest, not unless Europe are really dumb and start paying him the billions in energy revenue to rearm and make a bid for glory.

  22. StreamWave190 on

Well it’s lucky that we spent the last 35 years systematically defunding our militaries, overregulating our economies to the point where we become completely uncompetitive, and subjecting our peoples to endless cultural propaganda intended to demoralise them out of having any sense of national pride and demonising the same young men who’d inevitably make up 99% of combat soldiers, otherwise we’d be in a really tricky position to be able to fight such a war.

  23. It won’t be “on the scale” of any previous wars. It WILL be much worse. And if we continue faffing about an trying to appease Putin, we guarantee that such a war will happen sometime.

  24. butwhywedothis on

Is he talking about threat of war from enemy (Russia) or so called friends (USA)?

  25. SavageRabbitX on

With the US or Russia because we’ll handle Russia fairly easily but the US would be hard work and very bloody.

  26. wr1ghty69 on

It won’t be that bad. It’s only Russia there military is piss poor at best
