As long as Russia doesn’t get to claim it as their own, it’s a starting point. That said, if Russia is not persecuted for their thousands of thousands war crimes, it is rather pointless.

It should be Russia giving up land for demilitarised zones

All Russians should leave Ukraine and everything on Russia’s side within a ten mile radius of the border should be demilitarised, they’ve got a ridiculous amount of land so it’s not like it would make any difference to them in regards to that

    Im surprised.

I guess Europeans are truly determined to refuse to step up to the call.

If Ukraine demilitarizes the Donbas, then it might as well hand it over to the Russians.

Does this mean that Russia would leave all of the other areas in which they illegally occupy?

No peace will hold with Russia. None. They will provoke and provoke.

I’d suggest everybody just stay away from the news for a week or two. These different hyped titles give you an idea that war is going to be finished tomorrow. It is not.

This is a very positive step forward. A DMZ works for everyone. They should take notes from North Korea and South Korea after the war which was also a stalemate… there’s still alot of tension and shelling can happen now and again… but the peace has allowed South Korea to do very well.

The wording of the title doesn’t match the article. Demilitarization, and territorial concession are two very different things.

They’re only accepting because Russia is going to refuse.

Accepting this would mean Putin’s downfall. He’s going to keep pushing surrender terms. Problem is the balance of power can shift, and there’s every chance that shifts in favour of Ukraine. Especially as Russia is forced to be on the offensive.

I think Ukraine is doing its best to appear reasonable so the Europeans support it when Russia refuses. Then in 12 months when the war favours Ukraine those same terms won’t be on the table anymore.

Very good point that Podolyak in not a person who can actually decide about our ukrainian land.
