His “wipe someone’s bum” comment is a perfect mask off moment. Immigration as economic exploitation, same old politician

  2. Mass immigration isn’t pragmatic either.

I’m thinking the whole asylum system needs an overhaul personally – and not to make our borders more open.

Ahh, the classic Green deflection from their insane beliefs. Same with leaving NATO

“Yes, we want to leave NATO / have open borders – but don’t worry, we won’t do it immediately”

    >He said that “no manifesto ever said anything about open borders” and that the Greens had never stood at a general election advocating for them.

He’s trying to wiggle out on a technicality. Yes, it’s not something that they’ve gone into an election saying “if we win, we will implement open borders within the Parliamentary term”, but they’ve been fairly clear that it is their long-term plan:

    >MG100. The Green Party wants to see a world without borders, until this happens the Green Party will implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration where people can move if they wish to do so.

It’s literally their first point in the principles section on migration; it is absolutely something that the party wants.

Obviously, it’s debatable whether it’s only excluded from their manifesto because they know it would cost them votes; or if it’s just that they think implementing it would take some time, so they can only do the first step in one term, and they’d have to win a second or third time to do it.

The Green’s cannot be trusted, especially with Immigration and even this comment shows it. They want open borders.

It *is* in their manifesto though. The migration section talks about “fair and managed” migration, but that management is not about numbers or restrictions, it’s about administration. (https://migration.greenparty.org.uk/migration-policy/)

    > we propose a fair and humane alternative which treats all new migrants as potential citizens and ensures that they feel at home here

    >the Green Party will implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration where people can move if they wish to do so

Their asylum policy (https://migration.greenparty.org.uk/refugee-and-asylum-policy/) amounts to “anyone can come here and claim asylum and we will support them and pay for them”. And even if they’re rejected (which they won’t be because they also want to expand the definition of what you can flee from to include climate change) they won’t be deported, just “treated as a migrant not seeking asylum or protection”, which as per the above means they can stay permanently.

This amounts to open migration in reality. They can play semantic games but that’s the effect of a migration policy which gives visas to pretty much everyone and rejects the concept of deportation.
