Ciao a tutti,
Ho comprato questo vinile durante il mio viaggio a Varsavia. Il venditore mi ha detto che è un disco molto raro e che sono stato abbastanza fortunato a trovarlo. È un album di Ewa Demarczyk, ma ciò che ha attirato la mia attenzione è che è una stampa sovietica (URSS/Melodiya), anche se era un’artista polacca di Cracovia. Mi chiedevo se qualcuno esperto potesse aiutarmi a spiegare: perché i suoi album sono stati pubblicati in Unione Sovietica, di quale periodo potrebbe essere questa pressione, e il contesto storico o culturale più ampio di Ewa Demarczyk e il suo rapporto (se presente) con l’URSS. Apprezzerei davvero qualsiasi approfondimento o storia.

Copyright laws were nonexistent in the commie era. Melodiya pressed everything that would sell without any connection to the artists. I would treat it as more of a bootleg than a record with any kind of a story behind it

Nie jestem dużym fanem, ale jest jedną z nielicznych tego okresu polskiej muzyki, których słucham.

While it is true that Melodya didn’t concern itself with such bourgeois concept as copyright (BTW, they even ripped some American jazz by Black artists ‘subject to racial discrimination’), this is indeed a legitimate, artist-approved release. Demarczyk was very popular there.
I don’t know how rare this LP is these days, in the 80s your could buy it in any Empik.
