The current USA is as graceful as an elephant. They completely lost any ability to do geopolitics and are doing quarter to quarter sales of the USA government like they are liquidating a bankrupt company…

Europe’s legal inertia and democratic decision making is a strength here.

Trump will be gone in three years, or earlier. The decison taken by Europe will pan out over the course of the next decades, building an european military industrial complex, and decoupling.

Russia is 1/10 of Europe’s economy, and Europe current peace was a decision taken after the horrors of WW2, that was initiated by European far right parties. Europe is a sleeping giant, USA have mistaken kindness for weakness here.

What an incredible opportunity. Would give them Hungary.

Even willing to deliver that fat fuck to them personally, giftwrapped if they want to.

Poland and Hungary can leave. I’d say Europe would be better off without them.

The crucial piece of the puzzle that America would’ve needed didn’t happen though. Brexit has been a disaster by any metric. Had it not been, maybe they could’ve held that up as an example to follow. Nobody really wants that path anymore.

  5. Austria basically no chance… you need a 2/3rd majority in parliament on top of a public vote to even get there. And there is no majority whatsover to pull out of the EU… the USA is delusional if they think they can achieve that, there are jo advantages of pulling out only misery and poverty and people know that! We are not swizerland we have been bound by trade to our closest neighbours since forever!

Okay so they want to create non-EU land corridors to Kaliningrad and the Mediterranean for Russia. Was this the rational?

    “Leaked copy of national security…”

You had one job. The US, as competent as ever.

Can anyone with balls and a spine tell the US to FUCK OFF ?!

If they want to fuck up their country, they can do that on their own and focusing on their own country only. They really don’t need to drag other countries down with them in their folly.

    Austria, Italy, Hungary… I see a pattern here…

Will Poland be pulled out partially too? xD

  10. I really hope they succeed in Hungary.

But in the other three, no chance.

  11. Without EU’s NRRP Italy’s economy would be in a recession by now and this is recognised by almost everyone. I highly doubt they’ll succeed

Polish right-wing (PiS, Konfederacja) are hardcore populist with no sense of responsibility for the country at all, but even them would not do it. What they would do however is next best thing: they would cause mayhem in EU structures (like Hungary) on behalf of USA/Russia in order to destabilize the union. Frankly, I believe it’s worse, and I believe THIS will be Trump’s strategy and not a full split (not yet).

These countries are not even mentioned in the report. r/europe being as ignorant as always. None of you are different than the people you criticize for just reading headlines.

I have also reported the thread and user for false news.

It feels insane how short sighted this is by the US. They might benefit in trade short term from being able to negotiate with individual EU countries. But we need a stronger united west in uncertain times, not a divided and weaker west.

“Supporters of the British Empire understood that they were living under an actual empire: a power umbrella comprised of colonies, protectorates, dominions, mandates and territories which spanned the globe. Supporters of the US empire think it is entirely by coincidence that there is a giant cluster of nations which happens to move in near-perfect unison on all foreign policy agendas and continually wages war upon nations which are not part of that cluster.”

    – Caitlin Johnstone

What is happening today is numerous countries realizing that they are not actually countries, but regions or vassals of the American Empire, and starting to rebel against it, while the empire is frantically pulling at the strings and trying to divide and intimidate the said vassals to keep them controlled.

I wish my country Sweden should leave.

Well hungary can go, don’t know about Romania, all the gypsies come from there and cause trouble in other countries.

Fuck Trunk and his cronies. And for the US border security reading this if I ever go to the US for any reason: “fuck you”

  19. Why would the countries benefiting the most of EU end up leaving it?

  20. g_spaitz on

Divide et impera has been a basic tactic for quite some time now isn’t it?

If they pull Hungary away enough for a Hungexit (or whatever the hell cringy wordplay they made for it) I wouldn’t be too upset. The other 3 are big losses. I love the Polish contributions to the EU.
