Not a comment on O’Connor herself, as I’m sure she’s an excellent choice given her healthcare experience and previous executive experience.
However, I do find it odd that the last two HSE CEO’s will now be individuals who’ve essentially spent the majority of their recent careers in the HSE, taken an external executive position only to be brought back into the HSE as CEO.

I’ve used the VHI swift care clinics. Amazing, seen in 10 minutes, had examinations, X-rays, diagnosis, treatment and prescription done in an hour for a broken rib. €75. I’ve gone to the south doc etc and never had any treatment, just paid €70 to wait hours and be told to go to a&e and sit on a chair there for 20hrs.
If she can run the a&e like that, it would be a great improvement.

Good choice. She seemed to be one of the few competent people in HSE top brass. She was excellent during Covid. It’s about time a woman was in charge of the HSE. I had a running gag during the pandemic where whenever Anne did an interview on TV or radio I would play a Sonic the Hedgehog game 🤣

I do wonder why such a professional high quality outlet like The Journal published a picture of her hiding behind a grey wall.

Although it might be a bit of rage baitey type headline.
But if you are a person that knows the private sectors approach to cost management and has seen the HSE as well, maybe that’s what’s needed??
