I’d say majority are not fond of the current government
The article is not downplaying the racism, but more so saying that we should not be racist (obviously) cause China and other foreign powers have a well oiled machine on using every advantage against us.
Out currently politicians are assholes. Literally. Yes, they are against foreigners, but also against their own people, with cutting more and more from everyone and that money goes into their pockets.
No it’s not a popular view lol.
The current scandal has been covered to death so its time to push a new angle to keep it fresh. I don’t think it should be a surprise to anyone that our adversaries will use any chance they get to wage information warfare and this case is not any different. It’s probably not a particularly controversial view, seeing as Russia has been pushing similar schemes forever.
That said, giving them free ammo to use against us is a stupid mistake as said in the article. And yes, there are Finns who are not open minded and accepting, this is not controversial either.
It is the view of the people who support these racists. Something in the line of 15-20% of voters which translates to maybe something like 10% adult population. So, shamefully popular view.
”Maybe it’s lost in translation but it seems that it’s to justify bad behaviors with the current geopolitics.”
I don’t think it comes off like that at all. I think condemnation has been pretty much universal (save for the persut assholes). This specific paper has probably written something like 10-20 articles about it, I would guess.
This specific article highlights a very real phenomena we should also be aware of. No where do they excuse the behaviour.
You lost it in translation.
Point is that every time something happens that China can use in its political game it will be used.
These idiots gave tool for China in this and China is playing with it. Move of these few fools have been made something bigger than it was.
I think the initial debacle over some beauty pageant winner was overblown and may have included some kind of hybrid influence. Our idiotic politicians throwing fuel to the flames and supplying those who want to subvert our society is entirely their own making and the response is expected.
Everyone I know is outraged, including the 2 folks that admitted they voted Finn and said they won’t ever again. It is a right wing jingoist party and is adopting the American way of fabricating a problem only they can solve, it is the government in power but it appears to have lost favor from the people.
Even if you find yourself in rural areas that support overt racism, they won’t act on it themselves, they’ll just mumble to themselves and whine about it later.
There’s been like 20 posts about this the last 4 days
Did we read the same article? They suspect that this beauty pageant being a racist idiot has been pushed out of all proportion for benefit of hybrid influencing. And tbf in reddit recent days it appears so. Finns in general don’t share her idiocy.
I wouldn’t call that a newspaper really. I mean it’s more like yellow press. I guess it’s technically a newspaper but I think the distinction is important.
No, it is the populist view by the Primitive Finns party (translation by me).
Some weird interactions happened with miss Finland and Chinese reporter.
But after that, that was just plain Finns Party pissing in their own cereal… repeatedly, even after it became clear it’s not a good idea to continue pissing in the cereal.
But no. Piss + cereal 👍
The whole thing is just typical social media nonsense and media obviously farming it as well. Without them noone would pay any attention to the whole thing.
Also the old ‘what do they think about us” obsession seems to be strong as ever, as if people in China gave a crap about some idiots posting on social media.
Something doesn’t add up. The defenders of this racism are adamant than nobody outside Finland notices the issue or cares, so clearly it is impossible that you have noticed.
As a Chinese person, I want to say that this matter hasn’t garnered much attention within China. Everyone is busy opposing their own government and neighboring Japan. Of course, overseas Chinese are paying much more attention to this issue. The reactions from Japanese and Koreans are even stronger.
This whole thing is like a sadder version of that one father ted episode.
Just read the comments on social medias, which mainland china is banned from using, where theyre even more racist against Finland and the whole people.
The Miss Finland racism controversy spread even faster to Japan and South Korea, could this also be a case of hybrid interference? A bit interesting: the article doesn’t even list a journalist’s name. Is the Finns Party behind it?
Some dimwits gave votes to elect a few village idiots as representative. Here we are they are saying all sorts of shit based off of these morons being assholes in media and social media now.
We are not quite as bad as US electing a god damn moron as president, but this is a warning sign that idiots like these will keep getting popular, either for the joke or because some people actually support the bullshit.
They got elected to their position with under 0.1% votes from people, so no this is not majority supporting this idiocy.
Racism by PS MPs or anyone: Not good.
CCP using racism as an excuse for every valid criticism: Not good.
I cringe too much at this shit. Congratulations PS, hope you’re happy. Consider supporting your local Chinese restaurant this weekend.
Yes I agree it’s a bit weird view to look at. But it might be the only that works on these racist morons

*Please note: the picture hasn’t got anything to do with the case. Late Prigozhin’s troll farm in Saint Petersburg.*
You haven’t seen what was going on here on Reddit alone? Some typical provocateur was spreading a photo collage all over the place, with Miss Finland and four Finns Party guys stretching their eyes. There was a misleading text to it, claiming something about “a few Finnish politicians”.
Racism against East Asians really isn’t an issue in Finland, as anyone with any internet literacy was able to read from the rusbot’s post itself.
Whoever composed that image and wrote that text
• wasn’t able to find more than 4 posts to support the claim about “a few Finnish politicians”
• wasn’t interested in letting you know that this **former** Miss Finland is **former** because of this gesture
• wasn’t interested in letting you know that those politicians are just 4 self-victimising freedom-of-speech whiners from a populist right-wing party that represents a fifth of the voters, currently dropped in the polls to some 10–13%
• wasn’t interested in letting you know that this gesture is not officially encouraged by that party
• wasn’t interested in letting you know that this particular “Finns Party”, as they call themselves, has – even though it makes up the far-right of our Parliament – kicked out MPs and members in the past if they have been openly racist.
• wasn’t interested in letting you know that people who are too racist to stay within this party tend to start Putinist microparties with a close-to-zero voter base
It’s unthinkable that the average Finn would “hate Asians/Chinese”, as some claimed in the following Reddit debates. As you know, there is a lot of agitation on the internet, that tries to capture people into destructive ideologies, or simply dumb us down. Most typically, posts by anonymous users or fake profiles. **It would be very, very strange if there was an invisible hate against East Asian people, that doesn’t leave any traces on Ylilauta and such.** If there were any sentiments agains East Asians among ordinary Finns, a certain kind of populists would try to benefit from it.
What you see is one social media post that triggered a debate and caused Miss Finland to step down.
You can easily read between the lines what the rusbot’s intention is. **Anyway he/she wasn’t able to find more than 4 politicians who posted that kind of response to the debate.** The rusbot doesn’t want you to know anything about the case, quite obviously; they only want to manipulate.
I don’t know if this answers your question but the eye-scandal pops to my head once or twice a day, and it always sends me quietly seething. Not because I thought racism didn’t exist in Finland, but because those people are confident in their shittiness. Especially the cunt, Eerola, who did the teeth, he seems so proud how thoroughly he’s shitting the bed.
And the pointlessness! The whole idea was to show some solidarity to another to an airheaded idiot who had done the same, but there wasn’t like any narrative to go with it — not that satire would’ve excused it but it’s just hard to accept people in high office are this vile and simple with no apparent reason.
IS is not a reputable newspaper. Literally yellow press.
