Big chunk of the anger should be directed at the DVLA for selling our personal data to these parasites so they can spam out their highly speculative invoices and follow-up with boarderline illegal levels of harassment

If I were in charge I’d make a double-down defence. You try to charge me for parking e.g £100, I can respond by saying, ok, if you win I’ll pay £200, but if I win, you pay me £100. Up to you to decide if you want to continue.
I think that would cut down on the frivolous shakedown cases pretty quickly while still making people trying to cheat the system pay.
At the moment it’s endure an endless barrage of letters and then mysteriously they realise they don’t actually have a case and drop it at the last minute. None of that any more, if you don’t drop it instantly and can’t see it through, you are the one who has to pay.
