Either way, we don’t need people bringing this practice over to our country any more than it already is, and fair play to the police for making arrests.
I would expect more distancing from the Green Party however.

Had a look at the results of this seat, in 2021 the Green Party got 6% of the vote, then they took the seat in 2025 with 30% of the vote. Odds are this guy got put forward as a paper candidate and didn’t expect to win. In the next set of local elections, all the local parties need to vet their candidates much more carefully as we have no idea who might or might not win.

Cllr Sohail Asghar resigned the Green Party whip but remains in office as an independent councillor. Mr Asghar should do the right thing and resign from public office, the allegations are too serious to dismiss and be put aside.

Way worse than anything a reform councillor has ever done. Let’s see if this case gets brought up as much as reform councillors doing dodgy stuff does on this sub

From the article.
“Green Party figures confirmed the move but declined to give further details.
Group leader Cllr Gina Dowding said Asghar had relinquished the whip while an investigation was under way, while Hyndburn Green Party vice-chair Joan West described the decision as being for “personal reasons”.”
Fair comment from Gina Dowding.
As for Vice Chair Joan West, fuck off Joan. Being arrested on suspicion of “Modern Slavery” isn’t a personal reason.
