The European Parliament adopts the principle of a “military Schengen area.” The goal: to modernize infrastructure to ensure smoother logistics movements within the EU.

“MEPs call on EU countries and the European Commission to invest more in transport infrastructure, particularly along the EU’s four military mobility corridors. They also want to see more digital solutions implemented and cross-border traffic authorizations accelerated through a one-stop shop.”

The resolution was adopted by 493 votes to 127, with 38 abstentions.

The Transport Committee must now work on a legislative proposal to implement this project. There are 500 points identified as requiring action, with an investment need of more than €100 billion.

Why not just unify command, doctrine and equipment selection?
Oh wait nobody wants the French in charge and the French wouldn’t let anyone else in charge of their armée.

It is a step but a very small one.

The problem with European defence is duplication. Multiple command structures, logistic structures and fractured procurement.

If you want to get serious about defence you need to centralise control and give up on the idea of national defence forces entirely.

I doubt Europe is ready for that.
