I’m not leaving before I’m on pension. All my stuff is here and I like them.
Apart from this, many immigrants I know have invested quite a few years of their life in hopes to get stability (perhaps they are not from EU), and moving away now would basically reset the clock for them (which is like 5-7 years long process depending on the country they move to)
I left when the economy went down, but I still have a mökki in Finland, and I consider that my best place to be. I hope I can retire there in a couple of years.
Most certainly won’t be spooked by someone whose job is to “look good” doing some less-than-smart thing. The whole story is just a nothingburger that gives people who like to be outraged something to rage on.
The Washington Post title is somewhat misleading. The main issue causing furor in Asia and amplifying the crisis is not the photo of Miss Finland, but rather the fact that Finnish right wing politicians made this thing into a political campaign.
Mortgage. On a brand new apartment I really like. Can’t.
Because at the moment we are doing ok. My partner and I have an in-demand albeit average salary job so it won’t make us rich but it won’t leave us without work. We also have a house here that would be a loss to sell now.
We both have EU passport so moving around isn’t a problem but learning another language and starting from scratch again doesn’t seem appealing. And although Finland’s economy and overall situation looks bad, situation doesn’t look so good on other countries as well especially if you are to startover.
Child care is good. Schools are good. It’s safe. I couldn’t point my finger on where the government excessively wastes money. Administration is digital and transparent.
I’m not going anywhere.
I, a Finn, have thought about leaving but will not. I have grown up in one of the safest countries in the world, have received master’s level education almost free and there’s so many saunas. For these reasons I see it’s my duty to pay back to Finland for the life it has given me.
I’m staying and continuing to contribute to the economy. I own property here and want to help Finland, this country and its people have been kind to me, and they deserve my tax dollars. Also, my wife is Finnish, and I love her very much.
I left. The only reason I had stayed that long was because I had dogs… Lesson learnt, if you are young and are unsure about your future, don’t get dogs.
The main reason I left was that there was no reason to stay. Small and not that great economy. Everything is expensive. Better taxation scheme elsewhere. Generally unambitious people. Incompatible socialization style.
Nail in the coffin was having kids. I wanted to raise my kids near my family.
Miss Finland and generally increased hostility played very little in my decision. Overall Finland is the most accommodating country in Europe that I have been to, as a foreigner.
What is your agenda continuing to post about this every day from your account, then deleting your posts so that people who don’t remember your account name don’t see that it is the same account posting about this continuously?
None of the reasons besides worse than average housing market are ‘Only in Finland’ type of reasons so I kinda fail to see your actual point.
Edit: Surprise, surprise. Once a again account that has no previously activity available is suddenly so innocently worried how all is so bad in Finland.
