Sadly, my guess is this always been far more prevalent in the past, it’s just that more victims are brave enough to now come forward and – crucially – being listened to…

Not a surge in offences. A “surge” in scrutiny. Police have always harboured rapists and paedophiles.

Kinda surprised there aren’t protests happening outside police stations over this considering some of these cases have people abusing their power as a police officer to engage in these crimes.
Edit: of all the things, why in the world is this getting downvoted?

Its not increasing a stone is being turned over and thats a good thing.
Nobodies turning a blind eye anymore, Whatsup group chats are leaking, women are coming forward.

Surge in police sex offenders *getting caught*, where previously they’d be covered up by their colleagues.

Every time you hear about people being murdered it’s terrifying, but Sarah’s story for some reason has haunted me so much since. I think because she honestly stood no chance, anyone would have gotten in the car when they were told it was an officer, I would never have questioned that authority.
So this is truly not the headline I wanted to see, it’s unbelievably frightening.

Can’t believe some officers just decide to abuse their power like this. The scumbags want locking up for a long time.
