Why on earth do they think this would help? No country has fixed hard drug use by allowing more of it. Just look at the disaster that usage rooms have been in Canada…
For the people claiming “Portugal” as an example: Portugal decriminalised drugs but they do not have usage rooms like what is being proposed here. They actually round up addicts and put them into care against their will (if needed). They enforce drug use more harshly and openly than the UK does, the only difference is you don’t end up with a criminal record.
I hope this is successful; I’d much rather the crackheads were smoking their crack than shooting up. Needles just mean horrible blood-borne disease and gangrene. Better to give the junkies options that don’t give them plague and rot.
