      I assume I speak for us all when I vocally conden these people and call for the harshest possible punishment, all the way up to the limit of Reddit content guidelines, but very clearly no further

      Christ how many of these degenerates are out there? I thought the French case was a once in a generation anomaly. Then the other day read about a case from Germany getting sentenced , and now this.

      No words could explain how it feels to be a woman. Not safe walking down the streets and now not safe from other man in our own homes.

      The thing that always disturbs me most about these kind of cases is that while we all know that there are bad people out there, it only takes one good man to put a stop to something like this when he gets invited to join in. The fact that the first perpetrator can find so many people willing to join in without coming across anyone who is willing to go to the police is horrific tbh.

      **Summary**

      Six men have been charged with a series of sexual offences committed against Joanne Young over a 13-year period. Her ex-husband, **Philip Young** (49), formerly of Swindon and now living in Enfield, faces **56 charges**, including rape, administering a substance to enable sexual activity, voyeurism, and possession of indecent and extreme images. He has been **remanded in custody**.

      Five other men have also been charged and are currently **on bail**:

      * **Norman Macksoni** (47), of Sharnbrook, charged with rape and possession of extreme images
      * **Dean Hamilton** (47), of no fixed abode, charged with rape, sexual assault by penetration, and sexual touching
      * **Conner Sanderson Doyle** (31), of Swindon, charged with sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching
      * **Richard Wilkins** (61), of Swindon, charged with rape and sexual touching
      * **Mohammed Hassan** (37), of Swindon, charged with sexual touching

      All six men are due to appear at **Swindon Magistrates’ Court**. Wiltshire Police described the case as a complex and extensive investigation and confirmed that Ms Young, who has waived her right to anonymity, is being supported by specially trained officers.

      I think this case highlights, rather starkly, one of the key factors that gets missed out on this sub when people talk about violence against women and girls. While men are more likely to be attacked by a stranger/random person, women and girls are more at risk from people they know and in environments that ought to be safe. There’s diffferent dynamics at play hence the focus on dealing with VAWAG as a separate issue
