“London’s overall homicide rate is lower than cities such as Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Madrid, whilst figures from the Office for National Statistcs show Londoners are, on average, less likely to be a victim of a violence with injury offence than across the rest of England and Wales.”
Good things do happen.

Yeah, but I was told London is a no go area. Sadiq Khan has pop up Mosques on every corner and enforcers cracking down on the infidels with the Sharia law from the Iraqis with Muslamic Ray Guns.

Waiting for Reform supports to tell me it’s still not safe, and at its worst ever under Labour.

It shows how a hostile press and social media can really turn opinions, because I reckoned if you asked a lot of people in the UK / rest of the would they’d claim London violence is out of control.

10% reduction in hospitalisation in under 25s from knife attacks is the stat that really stands out to me. That’s great news, and part of a very impressive trend down over a relatively short period.

What are the lessons here that can be applied to other places with higher crime rates?

All good news, but why do the records only go back to 2003?

I think some people are jumping the gun in celebrating this: London has *massive* divisions; homicide may be down on previous years, but areas in the SE, for example, are only becoming more dangerous. Rural areas don’t have this extreme divide that London has where one area can be lovely, and 10 minutes down the road, everything turns sour.
Finally, if you look at the crime statistics for somewhere like Lewisham, about 60% of crimes are ‘could not investigate’ and ‘suspect not identified’, which isn’t exclusively about murder but points to an issue.
Look beyond superficial statistics.

The Mayor should offer to help Trump with ideas to reduce the far worse crime that he has talked about in American cities. You know as a gesture of friendship. … lol

This is terrible news ……… for the DM.
It’s going to take a lot of imagination and absence of journalistic integrity to turn this into a bad news story.

London’s is a very safe city in terms of violent crime.
Crimes related to theft is massively increased compared to pre-covid.
It’s an extremely safe city in terms of violence and it’s got rather dangerous in terms of theft. There’s your facts.

I can’t care less of the murder rate going down when I don’t feel safe looking at my phone on the street. How many people do you know that had their phone stolen? I know far too many. Every time that I travel somewhere else I fell much more safe and I don’t need to grip my phone for dear life.

Yet the idiots online will have you believe it’s worse.
These clowns wouldn’t survive the 90s or the 2000s when crime was far worse.

*Reported* murder rate drops to lowest levels on record.
An important distinction.

It’s just far too expensive these days to travel into London and get murdered

Is this not due to the quick medical response times/very good first responders meaning that many would-be murder victims survive and become victims of attempted murder instead?

Told a colleague about this and said it must be because they are fudging the stats. Its fine not to like London as not for everyone but just lengths people go to to justify existing beliefs.

Still more likely to get stabbed but less likely to die because of medical techniques

Sick of hearing “well, you know, crimes getting so much worse now, you’ve got to point the finger somewhere”. Facts show it isn’t, yet because their anecdotal echo chambers are saying it is, they dismiss the facts.

Interestingly though, [knife crime](https://www.statista.com/statistics/864736/knife-crime-in-london/) is at a record high. Hopefully this means medical treatment has improved, rather than criminals being a bit rubbish.
Fucking hell man, cant seem to get stabbed for love nor money these days.
