> The district judge Michael Snow said the group’s motive in seeking to prosecute Hunter was “to have him cancelled” and ruled the prosecution “abusive”.
> He said Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) had “demonstrated by the misleading and partial way in which it summarised its application and its wilful, repeated failure to meet its disclosure obligations that its true and sole motive in seeking to prosecute RH is to have him cancelled. I have no doubt that the prosecution is abusive.”
Well this couldn’t have ended in any more of an embarrassing fashion for CAA. Next time they try something similar, their opponents can always point to this.
I seem to remember commenters on this sub being pretty certain he was obviously an antisemite. And yet you accuse people of commenting in bad faith, your comment gets removed as a personal attack.
>Snow said a summary of Bachram’s tweeting in the application case summary was “wholly inadequate”.
>He added: “It did not reveal the extent of her tweets directed against Reginald Hunter in the period immediately preceding the complaints (her tweets were sent between 15 August and 11 September 2024).
This is Heidi Bachram’s entire thing. Trolling left-wingers online with insults or bad-faith statements to provoke a reaction, then weaponising that response (either through litigation or defamation) once it’s stripped of context. The most sensible approach is not to engage at all. It’s a deeply cynical and unpleasant form of politics.
Rather than get him cancelled this has given him attention i didn’t know who he was until now apparently he is a fellow American who has been living in the UK for years.
Malicious prosecution is itself an actionable civil wrong.
I hope Hunter raises a separate case against the group who sought to abuse the court process for political ends, and gets a great big settlement out of them.
Ideally enough to shut the group.
I couldn’t find the link – but here it is https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/The-Campaign-Against-Antisemitism-v-Reginald-Hunter.pdf
