Paper plates for Christmas is such an absolutely insane concept…

This is one of the 4 times a year you use the fancy plates?

Give us some details. What are we looking at?

We had gulasch of roe deer.

Poland here: beetroot soup with little mushroom dumplings, then fried carp or other fish, pierogi with sauerkraut and mushrooms, and poppy seed cake. You should totally try pierogi sometime.

Lasagne, of course. Lots of other stuff, but I don’t care. Lasagne are the real deal

  5. Carp for my sister, and some other fish for me because I can’t stand carp, bigos and pork chops for my niece, fish soup (made from carp heads) and vegetable salad for everyone + cake left over from my niece’s 18th birthday

Dude. There are Italians in here.

Do we really want to start this whole discussion? We might take over the sub.

My Swedish aunt-in-law introduced me to Jansson’s temptation. It’s our favourite Boxing Day dish.

Personally I do a goose for Christmas, a lovely bird and the fat does roasties for the rest of the year.

We will diverge from traditional christmas food today.

    Today I’m going to make:

Crispy Chicken Burger with spicy Slaw, cheesy potato wedges and Jalapeño-Aioli

  10. Pork, potatoes and sauerkraut. Optional side dishes include cold fish, salad and sandwiches.

  11. Traditional Finnish Christmas dinner is.. a lot. 14 items on the main course alone, and we skipped a few traditional ones.

Every time something like this is posted, a Spaniard, Italian or French dies.

Nothing special on the 24th. In Ireland, we have Chrimbo dinbo on the 25th.

We have a family recipe Christmas breakfast that involves using leftover spiral ham. It’s not an American recipe or anything. It’s a family recipe invented by my nana. Then for dinner, we have take n bake pizza. We do traditional Christmas dinner (spiral ham, mashed potatoes, lots of veggies, rolls and pie) on Christmas eve bc I don’t want to spend Christmas day sweating in the kitchen. Take n bake pizza is my little families tradition. And I love it. We don’t do chaotic family Christmases any more. It’s just my immediate family (5 of us) and it’s so relaxing. I can’t recommend it enough!

Starters such _ibérico_ ham, chorizo, cheese. Shrimps or king prawns and assorted sea food are all over the country. As the main course would be sea bream, piglet or baby lamb.

  18. Lasagna.

Not because I’m in Italy but because it’s f*cking delicious 😉

    (I’m Swiss.)

Belgian: Pork tenderloin with creamy spice sauce, honey grilled carrots, and creamy, garlic mashed potatoes. (It’s not traditional, but it was fine)

Here in Denmark most families choose between roasted pork belly (flæskesteg) with the cracklings, or roast duck- in my family, we say “why choose when you can have both?” 😉

We also have candied potatoes in a butter-caramel sauce; they’re a bit of a pain to make, but well worth the effort!

Finally, for desert we have “risalamande”, a cold rice porridge with crushed almonds and vanilla in it, served with a slightly fermented cherry sauce on top 🙂

Fish (preferably freshwater – common carp is sort of go-to fish because of availability), sometimes cooked into paprikash, and sometimes fried, if fried then it is served with potato salad (mix of cooked potatoes with chopped onions and some vegetable oil). This would, I guess, be a “typical” Christmas eve meal over here.

Hungary here; Fisherman’s soup, roast chicken, potato/egg/ham/onion salad, meat loaf, cabbage, and lots of other stuff and of course a lot of cakes and other pastries.

    >what do you eat in your country today

Everything, until hospitalization ( not joking ), there is a national contest of what area had the most hospitalizations for eating too much, trauma of a hungry/famine ex-communist country.

Personally ,I’m currently at this stage at this time ( ±21:30): [link](https://imgur.com/a/w7sXNn2)

Looks like everything is pre fabricated and just thrown into the microwave at a workplace tbh. Swedish christmas food does not have to look that revolting 😂🙈
