“Böllerverbotsdebatte” is only there because people without brains (f.e. AfD Voters) see their freedom cut short, when prohibited of polluting the environment and scare the shit out of every animal living. But lets pay the injuries from “the bad” public healthcare right? Idiots…

Yes, please. If there must be some show, invest in drones or something, not air pollution agents.

So like everything from alcohol to meat to plastic to vapes to tobacco, this has to go as well.

Yes, and only because fucking idiots without brains are causing chaos with it. The people can’t behave anymore, so the logical thing is to take it away from the people because words and warnings don’t help. The cities can organize nice fireworks/drone shows

Portugal also has a firework ban.
My street is having fireworks since the last week of November on an almost daily basis.

The issue with all these laws is that rarely anyone is usually punished with them. Sure it looks great on paper, but reality is that police don’t actually give a shit and the prosecution let’s people get away with it with a warning usually.

The silent 2025 polls are clear: Majority want private fireworks gone on NYE. Regular folks suffer the pollution, fires, and hospital trips while politicians hide behind ‘freedom’.

It probably won’t happen, but I swear that even in my low-density area of single-family houses, it’s unbearable.

If you have pets you are usually for a ban too, some of my dogs in the past have been nervous wrecks. My cats don’t care, like at all.

Wish they would ban them in Belgium too ! My cats always get scared because deepshit do firework just in front of my house.

Sure just outlaw fucking everything at this point. Everything that could possibly upset someone must be outlawed. Daddy state must protect us. What the fuck is happening to us Europeans?

Next year there is also a nationwide van in The Netherlands.
This has been a pretty heated discussion that has been going on for years. On one side you have the people who claim it is a cultural tradition. These are mostly the “populist” right wingers.

On the other hand you have a lot of pressure from people who are fed up by the (air) pollution, the many severe injuries (losing limbs and eyes) to mostly innocent bystanders, the threat to police and medical staff, the severe stress for children and pets / animals.

There have been partial bans, but they obviously don’t work. There are some people who claim a nationwide ban will also fail, mainly because people will still get illegal fireworks from Germany and Belgium. But this is obviously a very weak cop out to not even try to legislate this.

I am very happy if Germany will also get a nationwide ban.

OK this is gonna sound boomer AF, but China and the US probably won’t give up fireworks.

I don’t see drone shows as that much better for the environment since its all e-waste at some point.

Remember, this is not representative. A clear majority of MDRfragt participants (mostly retirees) is in favor of a ban on fireworks. That is a more accurate and less misleading headline.

Would love it. I would say let each city have a 30 minute fireworks show if they want otherwise ban fireworks from civilians

Why can’t I have the same thing in the shithole of a country that I’m currently living in?

  16. Illustrious_Crow_515 on

There’s this low budget film called Equilibrium.

  17. salomo926 on

Yeah but the majority of fireworks companies are against a ban.
