Bit of a confused interview? The logic of his suggestion is that because Reform would be a disaster for unionised workers, the government should address the cost of living for non-unionised workers including not caving in to union demands?
I agree with that but bold for the head of the TUC to suggest.
The underlying principle is right, if you actually want reform to go away you have to make people, “feel” the improvements that are being made, but doing that in one term is basically impossible. Labour were only ever going to plug the holes and set the course, they were never going to bear the fruits.
It was obvious this was going to be the case as soon as the Tories started going absolutely crazy with bad financial policy towards the end, they already knew they were finished and wanted to make the task for the next guys as hard and as painful as it could be.
Would have to stop raising taxes to do this, and a tax cutting socialist is basically an oxymoron
Yeah Reform have got some banging economic policies that will sort out the UK in a matter of weeks, right?
I would probably be OK if a Reform government got in. Close enough to retirement that it wouldn’t really matter if I lost my job, paid off mortgage, decent amount of savings in safe places.
The average self styled “working class Reform voter” on the other hand is not going to be as fortunate.
He’s not wrong. The economy is crushing us. And the Government is only concerned with The City’s economy.
Nah let them win and run the country to ruin, we deserve it for how ignorant we’ve become.
